2014 Alabama Center Isaac Haas

We need a BIG man in the 2014 class, love to have him.

Richmond, Looney or Lindsey, Cofer and Haas.....I'm happy!
Probably leaning toward a Juco big for 014 in case Jarnell doesn't stay for his senior season.
Of course there could be more attrition to make room for a 2014 center.
Going to be loaded with 3/4s, so could lose one of those.

JMO, I will take an athletic 6'10 C/PF over a 7-footer almost any day. The 7-footer would have to be something special.

Also, who was the last 7 footer we've had? Wingate was 6'10 - 6'11 I think but the last one I can think of was Steve Hammer. I'd LOVE to have a player like that again.

I think Hamer was the last one. He's the last one I remember anyway. I think Charles Hathaway and Major Wingate were both listed at 6'10 IIRC.

“I want to make my decision in November and might start narrowing down my list next week,” Haas told GoldandBlack.com. “I’ve already told the local schools, Alabama, Auburn and Mississippi State, no. I’m just looking for a different playing style.”

Whoa!!!

For those wondering:

“I’m a get up and down the floor guy,” Haas said. “I love to run up and down the floor, I’ve been working on being more aggressive, hook shots and dunks. My coach trusts me to dribble and go to the goal.”

4.1 points and 4.9 rebounds (but his team is loaded, not much scoring to go around with Grayson Allen, D'Angelo Russell, and Joel Berry).
I see star power in Reed.
Think Billy will go hard to get him?

Haas is only getting 9mpg in EYBL for whatever reason....he's a consensus top 150 recruit, so obviously someone sees something.

Philip Jurick was a consensus 4 star, too.

ESPN has Haas at a two star. Some of the ratings are tied to the magic "7-0" number. My sense of the situation is that Tennessee has Ikenna Okwarabizie higher on their list, because of the athleticism factor. No inside info, but they like long and athletic and Okwarabizie is much more athletic than Haas.

Have you watched Haas, or just going off his measurements?

And not for nothing, but jurick is a guy who we could use on next years team. Given 30 minutes he's probably a 6ppg 10rpg type of C who will alter a lot of shots.

I do agree much of Haas' rating is probably based on height, he's now 7'2". However, you can't teach height, and he's got some ability. He is thought of somewhat as a project, but bring in a guy like Hurt along with Haas and your set in the post for the next couple years.

I saw this thread title and immediately thought I saw Isaac Hayes. Heh. RIP Chef, er, Isaac.
