2014 F Kevon Looney

I have always maintained this was a longshot, but I am a positive person. CCM just needs to win this year, and he will start winning some of these battles. He did a great job being a finalist in this one.
Agree 100%. You simply aren't going to pull elite (out of state talent), unless luck is on your side, with average or less than expected results on the court. Even the biggest UT homers have to admit this, if their honest with themselves.

We have been discussing this a few days now. They might not know 100% but IMO they have a big idea. Just like duke has a big idea they have lost him by going up there today

I agree that Tennessee likely feels like they've done all than can and think they've got a shot. I think duke feels the same though. If Duke felt like they lost him it would've been leaked to the duke sites by the staff and they wouldn't be acting nearly as confident as they currently are.

I never said anything was concrete, but the fact that Borzello (very reliable) CB'd Looney to UF implies that UF definitely at least has a chance.

But again, no one knows anything. Should be interesting.

Well yea UF has a shot, as does Wisconsin, UCLA, Tennessee and Michigan state.

Bto

The last copy/paste you had from their mod claimed they sent the assistant because they were worried but then spun other reasons to be optimistic.

My strongest feeling in this thing is that that trip was a desperation one. The mod admits that and that's enough for me to say duke is out.

Just for discussions sake because I have yet to see it mentioned...what do you make of Duke/Florida being the only two to visit looney today?

Do those 2 schools feel like they're the front runners and by a wide margin so they're trying to seal the deal?

Does a school like Tennessee feel like they've done enough and are trying to show their confidence by not going?

Does UCLA and Wisconsin feel like they're out of it, so why even bother?

Just curious on what everyone makes of Florida and Duke being the only 2 out of his. 6 schools to go see him the day before his announcment.

You'll have to find where I posted their mod said this, I think you read the post wrong because none of their mods have said anything along those lines.

Here he admits the visit shows doubt.

Ok you used the words worried and desperation which I knew that mod didn't use, that's what threw me off.

I think his post is being pretty honest, they went because they're just not sure.

Like I said, if Duke felt like they were out I think you would see that being reflected on ther boards, it's the opposite.

Yea I used a little too strong language. My fault

If a school felt like they were still in it and had a chance to meet with him this close to the announcement but chose not to, they made a mistake, imo.
Bruin says Duke must be out because of what can be spun as a desperation visit. It could mean they didn't have him locked up, but if he met with Duke today, then Duke is not out.
Sometimes getting the last word in means everything, especially when you have so much to sell.

The reason i think today was a desperation trip for duke is that its rumored the family wouldn't allow them in the home. That's huge if true IMO

If true, that is huge, but that "info" was contradicted by the "info" that his parents prefer Duke. It's easier for me to believe that a parent would want their kid to attend Duke than for me to believe the opposite.
That said, we have a lot to offer too.
