2014 Illinois SG Peyton Allen

I feel our future hinges on Hubbs development. Not many have his ceiling and he has a lot of room to grow considering he was a primary post last year. I think we have very good pieces surrounding him so far and shooters would be a key to helping him slash and be open too. He'll have to grow into the Jordy role, but it'd be unfair to expect it too soon.

Agree. Even Jordy didn't grow into the Jordy role until his junior year.

Roy Williams will be flying into see Peyton Allen play soon and North Carolina may offer.
All of Tennessee's recruits of the last two years are highly underrated with the exception of Ndwiaye. Both point guards (Thompson and Austin) will be drafted in the first round.
Cuonzo has done a good job of talent evaluation. My only disappointment with Peyton Allen is that we didn't offer in the early signing period before he blew up in the eyes of recruiters.

Hopefully he does, but essentially missing his freshman season and rehabbing a shoulder injury will make that kind of jump in production awfully tough.

Yeah it might hinder him.....I dont know where we get the scoring from next yr unless he blows up.

I think you'll see Richardson average 14-16 and hubbs average about 12 with a bunch of guys averaging 6-8.

I agree. It's a real concern. Probably the biggest detriment to Hubbs missing this year. He has to learn it all on the fly next year while being heavily relied upon to shoulder a good chunk of the scoring load.

I agree with CA that JRich can take some of that load. Maybe more like 12-14 ppg rather than 14-16, but if he improves over the offseason again like he did this year, it's possible.

J rich has made great improvements each off season. I expect the same this next off season. Of course, he is my favorite player so I might be a bit biased :)

Richardson's role will likely increase with his senior leadership. We would really need him to take Jordy's place and for Hubbs to take the smaller role of Richardson next season. That would take pressure off Hubbs to be dominant and allow Richardson to take on pressure that he SHOULD have at this juncture in his career. Hubbs is the future though.

JRich's improvement is a testemant to his hard work and I hope he keeps improving....He still seems like an opportunistic scorer instead of a front line scorer which I hope he has the ability to become.

I want to believe you but I need to see more reports on this.

Edit: just looked it up myself :hi:

It's going to be hilarious to see what people have to say if UNC offers him.

Posted the same thing a few pages back. Apparently Michigan and Iowa are also getting involved.

So everything you were saying about him about to blow up was correct. Once he gets these offers I wonder if he's a take now.

Noone has said he is not a take but their is definite reasons to question him. I finally found stats for at least his last 3 games.....it didnt have shooting % but he scored 13,17, and 20 points and only made 1 3 pointer.

Not many would question it if our recruiting classes were stronger but it seems almost every player we sign is a hopeful under the radar player.

Which of our 4 commits qualifies as a "hopeful under the radar player?" How does Allen qualify as that with programs such as Michigan, UNC, Iowa, Wichita State, Butler and Oklahoma state being involved?

When Austin and Cofer get their 4th star this class' overall ranking will start to look better. This class is a good example of what your talking about tho. IMO I would say about 50% of the players CCM gets appear to be under the radar or projects.

I wouldn't classify Cofer nor Austin as "Under the radar" players. This current class is the best class CCM has brought in and I expect next years class to improve upon this one.

Don't bring out colleges looking at him. It's not going to change anything. If he signs with us he's "A good player but I don't think he fits" if he signs with one of those schools it's "CCM can't recruit or beat out the big names for players" it's a lose/lose.

Perhaps no one has outrightly said, "No way!" on this kid, but there is certainly an insinuation (from the usual cast of characters) that we shouldn't take him because he isn't an elite talent, or CCM is taking another diamond in the rough type, etc.

Roy Williams, John Beilein, Gregg Marshall all seem to disagree. Granted, he'd be a role player at UNC most likely, but still noteworthy to receive a look from a blue-blood program.
