2014 NFL Draft Thread

They were also D-leagues pretty much (at least the NFL Europe was, that was definitely a summer D-league).

I'm not saying it's a good idea; I'm just saying it's the direction he wants to go and he's made it known a few times now (and unlike teams drafting players, he has some factor/control in this...the owners and I believe the commissioner are the ones who decide about rewarding expansion franchises).

London NFL team nearer, says Roger Goodell

Thanks for the articles! Can you imagine the cost of NFL road games from London?:crazy:

Not like the league doesn't have the money.

And there's enough teams that pretty much the coverage areas in this country significantly reach the major markets (except L.A.)....and don't really leave terribly massive population gaps.

I more feel bad for whichever teams end up in the same division.

They would probably be in the NFC or AFC East. A game between lets say the London Royals against the NE Patriots would be pretty cool.

Look at Michael Sam's combine results. They are quite mediocre. Then compare them to VPI defensive end James Gayle's combine results. Gayle went undrafted. Here's the comparison:

Michael Sam James Gayle

40-yd dash 4.91 sec 4.70 sec
Bench Press 17 reps 26 reps
Vertical Jump 25.5 in 37.0 in
Broad Jump 114 in 122 in
3-Cone Drill 7.80 sec 7.19 sec
20-yd Shuttle 4.70 sec 4.27 sec

Can someone explain to me how it's possible that the Rams could possibly take Sam over Gayle after Gayle beat him in all six categories?

Maybe because of this?

@JGayle99

So I don't get drafted because of a torn labrum I played with all year. I didn't even miss a series in the ECU game when I dislocated it

Thats the first thing u people scream you a RACIST or Closet Gay!

Is a 8, 10 year old child confident enough in their masculinity and sexuality that seeing two gay men kissing doesn't affect them? I don't know and nether do you or ESPN, but they still have no problem jamming it down family's throats in prime time and all day!

If you can't take five minutes, to explain to your child, about the world that they live in then you are probably a crappy parent.

Guy from Dolphins gets suspended for a tweet about a gay. Still no word on suspension for Ray Rice for beating the tar out of his girlfriend.

I'm fine saying this is an issue.

Has the matter been wrapped up in court yet? I don't really know a whole lot about the story, but just kind of assumed that's what the league or team was waiting on. It seems that due process on a domestic assault charge would take a little longer than that of homophobic tweets. Jones was fined and suspended, but the suspension won't actually include any games, right? As I understood, he's just suspended from offseason activities until he does a sensitivity training course. I'm sure down the line Rice will end up facing a suspension that involves actual games and the loss of game checks that come with it.

A man who likes women, saying "omg" or "horrible" when he sees two men kissing is not homophobic it's a very natural response. And by sensitivity training that really means Godell's re-education camp.

It's probably a "natural" response, but it's debatable whether that's still a socially acceptable PUBLIC response. Simply saying it out loud or thinking it as you watch is one thing, but when you're a professional athlete in the public eye the few seconds time spent as you either type it out on your phone or computer should be enough to consider if posting those thoughts for the world to see is the best course of action.

Clearly it's not socially acceptable anymore, on this topic maybe unlike any topic I have seen in my lifetime there is only one viewpoint allowed. One is not allowed to have an opposite opinion on the matter.

I don't know that it's the only topic. As the whole Donald Sterling episode demonstrated, racial intolerance is pretty widely viewed as unacceptable as well. I'd agree that in most of our lifetime's there's never been an issue where the pendulum swung so far from one direction to the other as it has with gay rights in the past decade or so.

It's got really bad over the past 3 years or so, and when I say bad I mean in the way that one better not disagree with the lifestyle or the pro gay groups will come after that person with all their might, full attack mode until they get that person fired or some sort of punishment. I can be tolerant without being accepting. It's very frustrating for me the decisions ESPN and the NFL have made to just force feed the public this story.

Very fair point. I just meant off field behavior in general... DUI issues in baseball and such. But there's a court process for those things as well which must be honored. Jumped the gun too quickly with my statement.
