2015 Vols to open against UAB at LP Field in Nashville

Twitter tells me Vols will be opening the season in Nashville Against UAB in 2015.
What the point?

Must be recruiting. This is disappointing. I can't image the school making more money than filling up Neyland Stadium.

I love home games :(

Stretching the brand all over OUR state. I think we should play a game in Memphis at some point as well against a neutral opponent (Louisville? Kansas St? West VA?). It's important to take over that area as well. Wasn't this Bruce's philosophy in basketball? Play everywhere in the state. I like it personally. Plus I have to be honest....I LOVE Nashville and always looking for a reason to go there.

Yeah, but think about it like this; UT fans in the mid-state get to go to a UT game without having to travel to Knoxville. Not to mention, it's not like the game would have been full at Neyland anyways.

I'm cool with it.

1) I'm about 15-20 minutes away from LP field so I'll definitely be attending

2) I would love to see Vandyville turned orange :)

Prolly recruiting. Bear Bryant always wanted to play some Bama games in Birmingham for the same reason. Anything out of the norm will get more attention than the norm, too.

This is another recruiting nightmare for Vandy.

Franklin already burned the future football teams like he was General Sherman in Georgia!

As long as we don't pull a Kentucky here, this is great news!

Atlanta, Nashville, and then Bristol.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us play an ACC team in Charlotte in the future too so we can begin to pull more kids out of NC/SC.

I hope Vandy plays at home that day. Their stadium will be half full and LP will be all orange.

Maybe this will remind some of you guys that Tennessee actually has a professional football team! The lack of support the Titans get from East Tennessee is pathetic. You guys chose to root for a divisional rival over the Titans for a decade just because of precious Peyton.

I think it helps to broaden our brand, obviously we already have strong tradition and brand that speaks for itself, but reaching out to other audiences can only help get our program out there, especially in these rebuilding years. Now with that being said I know Nashville is only 3 hours away from Knoxville and mostly UT fans anyways, but it still is neat. A lot of excitement surrounding Tennessee football lately!
