2015 Vols to open against UAB at LP Field in Nashville

I think it's a good call. I was reading some of the recruiting articles where it said the dominate talent has been shifting to the center of the State. Look at how much talent we grabbed from Middle Tennessee this year.

Playing a game in Nashville certainly gives the local talent a chance to see the Vols in action. And in recruiting, you have to get exposure.

Good for VOL fans and recruits in middle TN. I would not like to see this be a regular event though, VOLS belong in Neyland.

Maybe this will remind some of you guys that Tennessee actually has a professional football team! The lack of support the Titans get from East Tennessee is pathetic. You guys chose to root for a divisional rival over the Titans for a decade just because of precious Peyton.

This kills me....I had a favorite team WAAAY before the Titans were a thought. I'm not changing my favorite team because one moved closer.

As for the following Petyon thing, In the South college football is just as (If not even more so) popular than NFL...And again, many people started following Peyton before the Titans existed.

We used to try to play one game a year in Memphis. It took way to long to realize that it did absolutely nothing beneficial to our program. A wasted home-field advantage. At least UAB is a nonconference game we should win. Seems like we often played Ole Miss in Memphis, giving them another home game.

Unless this counts as a home game for donors, it's like they're just begging us to cancel our tickets...

We've been reduced to playing UAB at a neutral site? Really?

Is this considered a Home game for the Vols or for UAB? Maybe part of the contract for when they came to Knoxville. WKU and UK do this where WKU goes to UK and plays and then UK comes to Nashville to play WKU and its considered a home game for WKU.

Atlanta, Nashville, and then Bristol.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us play an ACC team in Charlotte in the future too so we can begin to pull more kids out of NC/SC.

I hope Vandy plays at home that day. Their stadium will be half full and LP will be all orange.

I agree, we should line up old time rival GA Tech in GA Dome and one of NC/Duke/Clemson/NCST for Charlotte Panthers Stadium.

This makes more sense than OK & OR games. Plus with neutral sites, you don't have to go home and away, so you have more variety of teams to play.

Relax, we did this before in 2002, when we faced Wyoming at LP Field to start off the year.

As some have mentioned before, I love the idea of being able to go to a UT game without driving 6 hours from west TN. I'm sure the atmosphere will be well short of a Neyland game, it will still very much be a home game atmosphere. A "home game" in Vandy's back yard is gonna be awesome. I'll be there reppin' my O&W!

Even as a Titans fan, I totally respect this. Real fans wouldn't throw their fandom for a team away just because a new team moves into town.

Nashville has long been rumored to eventually be getting a MLB team. If that were to happen one day, I'd be excited about it, but I'll still be a Braves fan first and foremost.

Uh... okay? So?

I don't get a reduction on my donation when we have fewer home games. If we didn't have OU at home that year, it would wind up being a garbage home schedule, considering we travel to UConn and Bama and UF are both on the road.

To the poster a couple posts up, I imagine this is going to officially be a home game for UT.

Merely pointing out that we haven't been reduced to do anything.

You's good people! :hi:

I don't pull against the Titans or anything (Unless it benefits Dallas) but I'm just not really a big fan. (although I do kind of miss seeing the Oilers)

Kinda the Same with Peyton...I pull for the guy for every game....Just not Dallas haha

Think it's great. Still have 7 home games so it's not taking away from the number of home games season ticket holders get or taking money from the Knoxvillle economy.

Also as someone in Memphis I love that it cuts my travel time in half for at least 1 game.

Same here.

Jackson to Nashville is much better.

I get to see the '16 Heisman winner in person. :)

There will still be 7 home games, just like last year and the year before, and this upcoming year. The UConn series was postpones. UAB was most likely a filler game and a good chance to play in Nashville.
