Hopefully he takes Patti LaBelle's advice.

I'm feeling good from my hat to my shoe
Know where I am going and I know what to do
I've tidied up my point of view
I've got a new attitude.

Whoa! KS says that if the Astros can't come up with some money, he's coming back, says Coach Vitello has been welcoming...says there is a really big part of him that wants to deliver what he hasn't thus far.

IMHO...screw the money...he needs to come back...period...got a new pitching coach from Houston...believe it would be better for him...better situation for him now that Dad's gone...also, he's just not ready...flip side...his arm wasn't used a whole lot...:)

PS. final analysis...get your butt in a Big Orange uniform

GO BIG ORANGE!

I'm kind of indifferent about him returning, we'll see.

yeah, kind of odd a son of a big leaguer with an above average arm behind the plate doesn't even get drafted as a courtesy pick in the late rounds.......hopefully a more humble person shows up, we could use him behind the plate....

I'm with ya' 66. If he shows back up, very doubtful for several reasons, I hope he's the Friday night guy that shuts other teams down or the late inning guy that shuts the door. If he works out a deal, good for KS. He has his shot and I hope he takes full advantage of it.......

Baseball is a weird draft in that the parties are negotiating throughout the process which often times determined if someone is drafted at all. Teams will call up the player and ask if they would sign for a specific amount. If some of the draft eligible juniors set bottom line numbers or they would stay in school, teams simply will not draft them. Most juniors that are drafted sign, because if they get any significant money it will be much more than they get after their senior year. Look at the number of senior drafted late in the top 10 rounds, most of those players will get a very small signing bonus. Serrano is an unusual case because if something happened and he came back and had a great year he could get drafted higher and make some money. I think he is gone and the talk is to try and get at least slot value out of the Astros. I am rooting for Serrano, but he has done very little in the past several years to provide much evidence that he will be a great pitcher. Happy for Moberg to get to keep living the dream.

Thanks for this thread. It's the most comprehensive listing of SEC draft picks that I've seen.

You can add Vandy commit Cooper Davis to the list as well. Drafted in round 25 by the Toronto Blue Jays.

Thanks. I will add it.

Astros loaded up on college pitchers this year. Two of them Vols. Hopefully one day I'll get to see Hunter or Kyle at Minute Maid Park.

Neither Benito Santiago, Jr. nor Kyle Serrano are in strong positions for negotiating with MLB teams.

Both are getting old. Nobody as old as Kyle will be at next year's draft was picked before the 8th round this year, and Benito is several months older than Kyle. They're both at their "sell by" date now.

Both had their junior seasons curtailed for non-baseball reasons. Both will need to convince Coach Vitello they totally buy into his program and are willing and able to provide senior leadership.

Both have statistical red flags. Benito struck out in 34% of his at bats throughout his college career. Kyle consistently walked more than 5 batters per nine innings.

Both need to grab whatever pro opportunity they have this summer.

Did Kyle finish the semester in class? If not, I'm not sure he will be eligible for the fall at least.

He said in his interview that he was re-enrolling this summer. He said he would have no issues, but idk if that was truth or more negotiating.

What are the odds Leftridge comes back instead of getting a FA offer or transferring?

I want good attitudes in this program that won't taint the thoughts of these younger players. Hopefully he and Santiago will both land free agent deals and move on. I understand they are both getting pretty hefty scholarships and that money could be better spent IMO.

I would agree with what you said. Benito appears to be all in on coming back, so unless something changes I think he will be here next year.

The program has been average at best with a few quality players. With a new coaching staff why entertain old problems and production? Time to focus on the returning sophomores and the new freshman class. Round it out with a few seasoned JUCO’s and let’s move forward.
