2020 Presidential Race

You said Chicago 5 - WTH?

Either the story is accurate or it’s not. I never said anything about it being a local or national story. You said only propaganda outlets were reporting it, so I assumed you believe the story to be untrue.
What a sad deflection. I'm sorry that you were ignorant of the story, Luther, but that doesn't minimize the story in any way.
You guys are missing the point. This all started (for me at least) as a discussion about national relevance and whether or not the story should have been known to all. The obvious conclusion is that it is a much larger story on a national level to right wing sources. The reasons are obvious.
Right wing media will do all within its power to portray urban areas as lawless and spiraling out of control.
It's their Fear Porn - again "fear porn" is an idiotic term, I use it only to highlight how stupid the term was from the beginning.

The sooner all people stop this R and D and start focusing on workable, applicable, and achievable solutions to issues nothing will change.

Everything is given a point of political stance in every regard anymore....why......

Was it an actual order? Written down somewhere and sent to GM? I havent seen that said, so it's not on the level of the governors. If he did actually send them an order then yes that would be at least as bad as what the governors did.

My understanding of the power is that the president can request X from said company. If said company can comply and doesnt the president can then seize control. As I stated above I dont think Trump seized control.
His order came under the defense production act. Get your head out of your a$$.

But, you don't see the same played out from the other side of the aisle?

Both sides are playing the same games.

Of course both sides do it.
And it's not just politics. UT is more likely to want a negative story about Bama to become national than a negative story about UT.
It's true in all facets.

Continue on with your games, man. Deflect, reframe, deny, and place blame elsewhere. This is the dynamic that trump has made popular for all those who blindly follow.

The mindset of the 1920-30s German is almost 180 degrees from that of today's American. There isn't really a parallel to be drawn since the cultures are completely different.

Ok history major. How is this deflecting or playing games?

Poor Donald Trump! He has the worst luck of anyone ever!

All his former business associates are either disgruntled losers trying to take him down, or felons trying to implicate him in their misdeeds or beg him for a pardon.

Dozens of women have accused him of sexual impropriety just because of his massive, and everyone knows it is so huge they all say it, wealth.

His former employees are all disgruntled losers with nothing good to say even though Trump barely knows them and has no idea who they are.

Some devious person keeps bringing illegals to work at his properties and Trump has no idea how they got here.

Someone, probably Obama, shut down all his MAGA factories making Trump clothing and hats in America and shipped them to China and Mexico.

Ungrateful contractors who have no understanding of bankruptcy law keep whining about having their businesses ruined just because they did a bunch of work that Donald couldn't legally pay for even if he wanted to.

He is undergoing they longest and most mysterious IRS audit in history and cannot show his awesome bigly tax returns even though he runs the IRS.

Former members of his administration are either disgruntled losers trying to take him down, or felons trying to implicate him in their misdeeds or beg him for a pardon.

Even his family members are horrible to him and run around telling everyone who will listen what a dishonest liar and conman he is, and sell far more books that Art of the Deal just to be terrible people.

His mentor, two of his business partners, a guy who worked on his campaign, one of his closest friends, and a low profile lady he "wishes well" all turn out to be involved in sex trafficking minors.

I mean what are the odds. I feel bad for the guy. And I'm probably missing a bunch.

The parallel drawn has nothing to do with German or U.S. culture, genius. It is about people blindly following a leader/movement and the resulting carnage to their country. Browse through The Rise and Fall of the 3rd Reich by Shirer and get back to me.

Sucks for you that I'm voting for him and if he wins your taxes won't go up. What a terrible thing.

Actually it sucks for you that you're too jaded to see him for the con-man that he is. However, if voting for a man that seeks to destroy our democracy as we know it makes you feel better, then carry on.
