You need to go way further back. You need to reed some Hegel, Schopenhouer and Treitscke to get an insight into the pre-WWI German mindset. Once you understand that you will understand how a culture that emphasized duty, nationalism and romanticized dedication to state could fall for a man like Hitler after a brutal war and even more brutal peace terms.

Go back to 1700 Prussia forward, through 1870's through WWI.

Simple to see why what happened initially for the average German as to why they wanted and believed in becoming "great" again. The other stuff like killing Jews....world war......well, once the machine is in power, see those who stood up to it, and worse, the do nothing crowds fearful of ever doing what those disappeared and dead tried to do, or did.

Just because national media is or isnt running a story doesnt actually set its importance.

Each individual will determine that on it's own.

Plus Hitler made no secret his desire and intention to expand the German lands, he even explained how he was going to do it in Mein Kampf. There are no similarities between Trump and Hitler.

So in your mind what's the big separation between US people blindly following a leader vs the Germans of the 20s and 30s blindly following a leader.

At that point they hadnt locked up any jews.

I said in the very beginning; in fact it's what brought me to the PF, that Trump crossed the line of acceptability.
I can deal with the ideological differences of the left and right, but I can't deal with such a horrendously despicable human serving as POTUS.
