CISA says 62,000 QNAP NAS devices have been infected with the QSnatch malware | ZDNet
This malware has capabilities to scrape credentials, host webshells and leave SSH backdoors. Everything a remote attacker would need to change DB entries. The malware has been found primarily in NAS equipment made in Taiwan. It takes control of the NAS firmware, gives unlimited access to the APT, and blocks the firmware from updating.
ETA:
The hacking/changing activity would have been logged in ANY responsibly configured system. My hope is that in our election-hosting environment, all logs would have been centralized to make anti-detection efforts such as log wiping harder. Even if they did wipe logs, that in itself would be evidence.
