General Services Administrator Emily Murphy had a call with David Barram, the GSA administrator during the 2000 election, before this year’s election, according to a source with direct knowledge of the call.
As administrator, Murphy is the person tasked with officially affirming President-elect Joe Biden has won the election on behalf of the Trump administration — something Trump hasn't done himself.
She needs to sign a letter to release funds to the Biden transition team through a process called ascertainment. This would mark the first formal acknowledgment from the Trump administration that Biden has in fact won the election, but it would also unlock access to national security tools to streamline background checks and additional funds to pay for training and incoming staff.
Barram, a Bill Clinton political appointee, ascertained Bush as then winner of the 2000 election following the historic Bush v Gore recounted that ended up in the Supreme Court.
The call between Barram and Murphy was set up by mutual associates as a way for him to discuss his experience with her, the source said.
Recently, post-election, Barram said that this year’s election is “dramatically different,” than what happened in 2000. “It was all about Florida. One state, and something like 537 votes. Everyone knew that once Florida was settled, the winner would become clear,” Barram has said.
Murphy has still not issued an ascertainment letter that would officially trigger the transition period for the federal government.

Why would you confirm an unofficial vote count, one that's being contested, and one that has yet to be certified by the states?

I never said Biden specifically but see below. This kind of stuff was a precursor to claim more of the same stuff like what Dems have been saying since 2016. He wasn’t alone. Other Dems and member of MSM threw out things to cast doubt on the integrity of the election but now that they think they’ve won all that magically disappeared. Shocking.

No, Powell hasn’t provided any proof yet so until she does it really doesn’t mean anything. She seems pretty damn sure but knowing it and proving it are two different things. No matter what Trump or anyone on the right says, nothing matters without proof.

Because that's what the GSA Administrator is tasked to do.

Per the WSJ:

"In past elections, the GSA has sent a letter identifying the winner within days of the AP and networks calling the election, long before the results are made official by the Electoral College. In 2008, the letter was signed within hours.

The only time in recent history the GSA did not quickly identify a winner was in the aftermath of the tight 2000 election between George W. Bush and Al Gore.

Pamela Pennington, a spokeswoman, for the GSA didn't immediately respond to a request for comment Sunday. Ms. Pennington said Saturday afternoon that the agency has not yet made an ascertainment in the election, pointing to a statement issued earlier this week.

“The GSA Administrator does not pick the winner in the Presidential election,” the statement said, citing a federal transition law. “[T]he GSA Administrator ascertains the apparent successful candidate once a winner is clear based on the process laid out in the Constitution."

Joe Biden's campaign wasn't a part of that, and that is a big difference. There is no reason to believe that Joe Biden wouldn't have conceded a week ago, if he was facing the same electoral college results that Donald Trump is right now (a 306 to 232 deficit).

I couldn't agree more with this last sentence. They are running out of time to prove their claims. We are not early into this process. The election was two weeks ago. It's time to put up or shut up.

Idk how it is not that simple, if the allegation is voter fraud via the machine switching votes, but I haven’t kept up with anything that hasn’t been alleged in court.

I think Georgia says they are set to wrap up the manual recount, tomorrow.

It seems like Flynn agreed originally to plead guilty because the FBI was threatening his son - a plea bargain to end the process. The question is why isn't Biden sitting in an FBI office answering the same questions.

They have to, tick-tock, tick-tock.

They face a Nov. 20 deadline to finish it. That’s the state’s election certification deadline, which can only be extended “for just cause” by a superior court judge’s order, according to state law.

I’m just waiting for the Logan Act prosecutions to come out of this. I figure we will see investigations soon since the FBI is so concerned about it. What have the nature of these conversations been? Who all was involved? Time to start on the interrogations!
