The biggest differences are that today's riots were promoted and encouraged by the president, disrupted a joint session of congress, were based on the idolization of a horrendously despicable human, were fed by conspiracy theories, and were intended to overturn a free and fair national election.

Thanks for the response. And I agree that Trump has handled the post election process horrendously. I don’t believe he is a good person either. And I voted for the guy.

Overcharge and they'll walk. Charge them with domestic terrorism and that will come back and bite cops at some point. Better to fix the Capitol Police so it won't happen again and walk away.

There were actual riots all year long over shootings by a cop ... and they generally faced someone with a weapon. This one involved a shooting by police that should never have happened - none of the protestors appeared to be armed. I'd hoped that this would have been the real start of GOP supporters growing balls, but it really looked like something between college pranks and a group of escaped loons. And multiple idiot dim legislators are calling it a "coup attempt"; you just can't make this stuff up. Apparently you fools need to look up "coup".

A overwhelmingly number of our living, retired military brass have spoken out against Trump for the better part of his Presidency. Most of these right wing zealots lauded the Matt is appointment as the Secretary of Defense, and rightly so. It was a solid appointment. The second Mattis had enough of Trump's circus, they immediately began to disparage him. Indicative of their loyalty to a self serving, egomaniac over their country. In the narrow hallway of their brains, they believe they know better. Just like Trump! NONE of them have the education, professional credentials nor the accomplishments to render any credibility with their opinions. Our great democracy gives them the right to voice those opinions. Social media has provided the means to do so. Good for them. As much as some of the them claim to hate posters like me, I refuse to hate them.
