2020 Presidential Race

Trump speaks like a 4th grader to reinforce his message. He has his moments when he looks demented, but I truly think Joe Biden is starting to have dementia. I'm actually concerned about that as a voter.

Warren hasn't felt real heat. We'll see it in September's debate. She did deal with Delaney very well, but Trump is quite a different monster.

I actually keep up with progressive radio, and they are on the Pete is full of BS train. He isn't passing the sniff test.. Hence why he is polling at 5%.
He's actually polling at 6%, closing in on Kamala for fourth behind Biden, Bernie, and Warren. He's not full of BS, and I don't think progressives think he is either. The only negative thing I've read about Pete has been on VN from the Red Hats, and on Reddit from Bernie Bros, but they trash everybody.

He keeps getting his message out there, talking to voters, and he will be fine. Like I said, Pete can unite both wings of the Democratic party. And then go on to beat Trump.

So you think Pete is going to defy his donors and go after the forces that boned the middle class?

The ones that want to have it both ways will at least try. If and when Trump does something too unpalatable, even for his supporters , they'll say he was really a Democrat.
Uhhhh
Pj and others have been saying that for a while now. He hasn’t changed his beliefs or behavior and is a lifelong Democrat so there is that. But no trump is no longer a Democrat. The Democrats have moved left out from under him though his behavior is absolutely Democrat

Mayor Pete calls for change after deadly shootings: 'We cannot allow the Second Amendment to be a death sentence'

Democratic presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg has a clear view of where to place blame following deadly shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, this weekend.

The South Bend, Ind., mayor pointed specifically to “weak gun safety” measures and white nationalism as the culprits, after the El Paso shooter was linked to anti-Mexican statements.

“This is terrorism and we have to name it as such,” Buttigieg said, specifically calling it “white nationalist terrorism” in a conversation with host Chris Wallace on “Fox News Sunday.”

“Right now you see it being echoed by the White House and there is a measure of responsibility that you just can’t get away from,” he said. Buttigieg cited President Trump’s comment that there were “very fine people” on both sides after a deadly attack at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va.

Addressing gun safety, Buttigieg asserted that there is a need for tougher gun laws to help prevent future mass shootings in the “only country in the world with more guns than people." He said "most gun owners" are in favor of universal background checks, and accused the National Rifle Association of not having the American people in mind when fighting stricter regulation.

“We cannot allow the Second Amendment to be a death sentence for thousands of Americans a year," he said.

This won't do jack to prevent things like this.

Beto O'Rourke BLAMES recent mass shootings on Donald Trump, calling the president a 'racist' who encourages 'white nationalist terrorism'

Beto O'Rourke called Donald Trump on Sunday morning a 'white nationalist,' claiming the president is to blame for the recent influx in mass shootings and violence in America.

When the 2020 candidate was asked Sunday morning by CNN's Jake Tapper if he believed Trump is a white nationalist, O'Rourke said, 'Yes, I do.'

This was echoing something longshot 2020 contender Jay Inslee said during the debates in Detroit, Michigan last week, which was just a few days before the massacres, when he called Trump a 'white nationalist.'

'We have a problem with white nationalist terrorism in the United States of America today,' the former Texas representative, who is from El Paso, Texas, said.

I think Pete is going to do what is best for the country.
That'd be a first. I can't think of a major piece of legislation in the last 25 years that's has had a substantial positive impact.

We all should vote and be thankful for the right to do so, but I get less and less invested in elections as I get older.

It's taken a long time but I've finally had my eyes opened about how both parties play us for fools.

Not true. He’s a centrist Democrat and most progressives can see right through him. You can’t unite people who have fundamentally different opinions on policies.

What’s going to be interesting is who gets out, when, and where do their voters go?

Honestly, I thought this would hurt Biden as some of the progressives dropped out and those votes went to Warren and Sanders.

Looking at the polling though, it seems like most of the progressives have already flocked to Warren and Bernie. A lot of the vote that’s still out there split among the rest of the field still belongs to moderates. One of them needs to drop out. Will they?

Right now, anyone who hints at a Public Option is lambasted by progressives.

That's true some times but not this go around.
The enemy of your enemy is your friend. Trump is the unifying enemy.
I'm pretty progressive and will easily and happily fully support a centrist.
I can;t imagine many progressives sitting out another election when 4 more years of Trumpism could be the result. (lesson learned)

You care more about hating Trump than you do about your ideas.. Which is kinda sad to be honest. Neoliberal Corporatism will lose to Trump.

Exactly. A public option is not a progressive idea. It is a tool to pander to the progressive base while still maintaining the interests of the insurance industry.

It is a progressive idea, but it's considered a half-measure. That's not the only thing Pandering Pete panders on about.

That's ridiculous. I am 100% fully aware that the best way to advance my interests/ideas is through the removal of Trump. I've been consistent in that.
I think almost all on the left are aware of that same fact.
