Per VQ, Tennessee is in a really good spot for both Keon Johnson & Jaden Springer...Tennessee and Johnson were interested in him reclassifying to 2019 but his school didnāt really cooperate with the idea, gives a little bit of an idea on where the Vols currently stand with him though. Obviously a long way to go but those 2 with Corey Walker Jr. would be a really impressive start to a 2020 class.
Getting Cone in 2019 would be awesome because it would take off a 2020 target and allow the staff to really lock in on those couple of key 2020 targets.
Will be a UNC/UT battle until the end .
A full day of hoops was on the docket at the Under Armour Association Chicago. There was a slew of sleeper uncovered but it was the potential decision of Jalen Cone to reclassify and the standout play of Matthew Murrell that drew the greatest attention. There are shot makers and then there is Matthew Murrell. The 6-foot-4 scoring guard didn't have his best on tap Saturday, but long-term, the value in Murrell's shooting threat looms large. A solid member of the Rivals150 prospect, his ranking will go up and in a major way during the next update.
-RivalsSeeing that Murrell shoots the ball at such a solid rate, an asset that is as valuable as ever in todayās game, it cannot be understated just how much of a wanted recruit he already is and will be in the coming months. Following his outing, Murrell told Rivals.com that Florida, Iowa State, Memphis, NC State, Ole Miss and Tennessee are the six programs standing out. He took an official visit to Arkansas whenever Mike Anderson was presiding over the program and is hoping to officially visit Florida sometime in June. Expect for newcomers to enter the picture with the college evaluation period two weeks away. Prospects that can make shots, defend multiple positions and are not lacking in the athleticism department are of the utmost importance which makes Murrell a trending, national recruit this spring.
If Tennessee lands Johnson and Springer to pair with Walker, I'm not sure they have room for Murrell, which is a good problem to have, I guess. That 4th available scholarship would need to go to a PG, either Cone in 2019, or to Cone or someone else in 2020.Would love to land Murrell, but unfortunately I have a feeling the hometown Tigers get him. Penny has made him a huge priority, and Murrell's dad is a Memphis fan. Vols can still overcome all that because of Barnes' ability to develop players and their style of play, but I'll have to see it before I believe it here.
Yeah, I'll gladly take that problem if that's the problem we have!If Tennessee lands Johnson and Springer to pair with Walker, I'm not sure they have room for Murrell, which is a good problem to have, I guess. Starting to lose hope for Kessler. He just doesn't seem that interested. This 2020 class has the chance to be the best class ever. There's a chance we get 4 top 50 players in Springer, Walker, Johnson, and Kessler. We'll need it too in the worst way. We'll be losing Bowden, Turner, and then Bone/Grant if they come back.

Agree. He just has never seemed to give Tennessee a fair shake, which is fine. He has cancelled at least 2 OVs to UT, good reason or not, and I have heard no indication that he made it in this past weekend, either, as he was supposed to visit.I could be wrong, but to me it seems like heās the most interested in UNC. Seems like since that has come along, heās been leaning that way........based on what I have read (forgot where, but twice he mentioned UNC and their ābig menā)......but again who knows.

Very true. If we end up with room, I'd love Hall.P.J. Hall is the one post player I would be the most excited about signing. Pretty athletic, and can play with his back to the basket as well as shoot from the perimeter. If Burns turns into that low post threat, pairing him with Hall could be a good combination.
