2020 U.S. Senate Races

3 Former Astronauts Endorse Sen. McSally over Democrat challenger and astronaut Mark Kelly

Three former astronauts have endorsed Sen. Martha McSally, R-Ariz., ahead of the special election against Democratic nominee and astronaut Mark Kelly on Nov. 3.

"As former fighter pilots and test pilots, we know what it takes to get in the cockpit of a fighter jet for a test flight or combat: incredible determination, strength and grit," former astronauts Tom Stafford, Charlie Duke and Jack Lousma wrote in an op-ed published Thursday in The Arizona Republic. "That’s why we support Sen. Martha McSally. As the first woman in U.S. history to fly a fighter jet in combat and command a fighter squadron, she broke barriers in the Air Force and the military."

The trio also touted her record in Congress, including being ranked one of the most bipartisan senators last year and tied for the most bills passed into law.

"Just this year, she introduced legislation to lower the cost of prescription drugs, started the National Veterans Treatment Courts to help improve the lives of veterans, and she helped write the legislation that gave families and small businesses help to get through the novel coronavirus," the three men wrote. "Whether it’s helping secure funds for Fort Huachuca, leading on the Drought Contingency Plan, or getting Congress to pass land exchanges that give local control back to Arizona, Martha springs into action when her constituents reach out to her with a problem."

Republicans endorsing a Republican. That's just shocking Pierce.

I don’t think an explanation is going to help. He’s toast.
Yep he’s toast....
Dems in NC and DC have to be pissed to high hell. In all likelihood Cunningham going to win flip the seat. Their chances of retaking the senate just took a huge hit.

“Text messages obtained by NATIONAL FILE show that North Carolina Democrat U.S. Senate candidate Cal Cunningham’s mistress Arlene Guzman Todd has naked photos of Cunningham, and that Cunningham and Guzman Todd had sex in Cunningham’s family home.”

The format for the next debate in the South Carolina Senate race will have to be changed after Sen. Lindsey Graham refused to be tested for COVID-19. Jamie Harrison has submitted to testing.

It's pretty indefensible for Graham to refuse to be tested. He has come in close contact with several members of the Trump administration who have tested positive within the last week for COVID-19.

Democrat Challenger Jaime Harrison Raised $57 Million in Third Quarter in Bid to Oust Lindsey Graham

Democrat U.S. Senate challenger Jaime Harrison hauled in a record-breaking $57 million in fundraising in the third quarter in his bid to oust Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC).

The single-quarter haul between July and September breaks the record $38.1 million Texas Democrat Beto O’Rourke raised in the third quarter of his Senate campaign in 2018, the Washington Post reported.

Harrison’s third-quarter figure comes as Graham has been struggling to match his contender.

In Graham’s three previous Senate races, he won by double-digits. Now, he is pleading to his base for help.

“I’m getting overwhelmed,” he told Fox News host Sean Hannity, adding, “Help me. They’re killing me moneywise. Help me. You did last week. Help me again.”

I understand polls can be wrong, but the most recent data has Cunningham still leading comfortably.

Sometimes it can take more than one polling cycle for the data to catch up with the aftershock of a scandal, but it's fair to say that there hasn't been any seismic shift so far... neither one of the two most recent polls show any movement at all: Morning Consult has Cunningham leading Tillis 47%-41% and SurveyUSA has Cunningham with a 49%-39% lead. I suspect it will tighten, but Tillis is not very popular right now in his own right. Cunningham isn't "toast" by a long shot.

Saw a Raphael Warnock add. He said he was going to stick up for all the people that slipped thru the government cracks.

I thought the government was catching all those that already slipped thru the cracks.

How many layers are needed? What makes his government safety net better. Just promising bs that people want to hear.

Know. Your. Customer.

Bye bye Joni. Thanks for playing. We have a beautiful lobbying job as your parting prize.

People are obsessed with this stuff not because these are trivial stats, but their livelihood is measured by these prices. Fewer small farms left out there, sure, but the economy still heavily tied to these numbers in much of the Midwest. Also makes Ernst look like a fake. Like when someone claims to be a lifelong Vol fan and then says Neigh-land Stadium fake.

Also, they weren't even trying to play gotcha, as the moderators and Greenfield looked surprised she didn't know the current soy price.

Going to be hard to put the grain back in the silo on this one.

Polls Show Arizona Sen. Martha McSally Taking Lead from Democrat Challenger Mark Kelly

Two polls examining the Senate race in Arizona show Sen. Martha McSally (R-AZ) taking the lead from Democrat challenger Mark Kelly (D) — a significant shift, as Kelly has led the incumbent in a barrage of polls in recent months.

A Susquehanna Polling and Research survey released Friday showed McSally overtaking Kelly in the Grand Canyon State, garnering 50 percent to Kelly’s 47 percent. That represents a six-point bounce for McSally, who trailed Kelly by four percent (44 percent to Kelly’s 48 percent) in a September 25 poll:

The survey, taken October 19-22 among 500 likely general election voters, has a margin of error of +/- 4.3 percent.

Similarly, an Arizona for the American Action Forum/Basswood Research survey released Thursday showed McSally leading Kelly by two percentage points, or 49 percent to 47 percent. The survey, taken October 3-5 among 800 likely general election voters, has a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percent, indicating a statistical tie:

Since January, only two surveys included in the RealClearPolitics average of the Arizona Senate race have shown McSally leading her challenger. Friday’s average, which included the Susquehanna survey, had Kelly up by 5.6 percent.

His seeming dip in the polls comes as Republicans target Kelly for his “shady record and ties to China.”

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) recently released a video highlighting Kelly’s ties to China, “specifically his decision to take the Chinese Communist Party’s Young Leaders Forum banner into orbit with him at one time,” as Breitbart News reported.

Last week, Kelly’s deputy press secretary, T.J. L’Heureux, apologized after calling police “worthless f***g pigs” in a tweet posted in August.

Big fan of Martha McSally. She is a strong military woman. A role model for women.

I've been thinking about buying her book.
