2021 Lady Vol Recruiting Thread

The "Team A or B has the number 4 or 5 recruiting class" works in football. It works in MBB if you retain the class to their Jr. or Sr. while those ranked ahead of them go pro or transfer. It's absolute pyrite for WBB. Not only are rankings for high school girls players even more suspect than in other sports but team rankings are insignificant. It's about who recruits impact players. There are only about 4 or 5 of those each year in WBB recruiting. The #15, 25, 45 and 55 players would get a school a lofty ranking. But if UConn were to follow Paige Bueckers with Azzi Fudd and Notre Dame were to follow Miles and Citron with Ayanna Patterson they are going to compete for Final Fours. The 2015 Hoopgurlz rankings which had Duke(1) and Louisville's(2) 5 players rated ahead of UConn's 3 and Notre Dames 3 are a prime example.

UConn added Katie Lou Samuelson and a much underrated Napheesa Collier to Breanna Stewart and Morgan Tuck. Notre Dame added Arike Ogunbowale and Mabrey to Brianna Turner. Then came Jackie Young. UCLA, South Carolina and Duke were 1, 2,3 in 2014.

The Lady Vols have to sign more Jordan Horston's. You can prattle on about the 3 top 100 players starting in the 20's being "ranked" ahead of a team with only two which are in the top 20 or top 15. But you're not going to beat that team on the court unless they're coached by a Karen Aston.

Thank you Kenya for finding our board faulty for PRATTLING ( talk at length in a foolish or inconsequential way.

What you wrote is not wrong, just the obvious that the process to be able to recruit in competition with SC, UConn, Baylor, ND, Oregon, and Louisville requires winning. What is Wrong is sounding superior as a new person on the LV board.

Collier was Top 5 composite ranked player coming out of high school.

If Kellie can consistently finish near the top of the SEC and make S16 or better NCAA tournament runs, the highly ranked players will want to play for her.

Is there a certain join date that makes you a newbie?
Oddly, no, nor a specific number of posts. You mysteriously only get called out for newbieness or trollishness when you disagree with. . . well, you know. Same with being nabbed for wrong thread, etc. Interesting dynamic.

I wanna be an oldbie, but I guess my join date makes me a middlebie. :(

Still get my gubmint draw, though!

Hard to tell sometimes anyhow. Mine says 2018 but I was on here long before that. Got locked out of my other account at some point. Can’t even remember what my name was now lol. Talk about old 😂

Volball good post, But i think it will come down to matchups on the floor and the team. This is true for most teams just like when we played SC we only could match them at 1or2 positions. KY the same when they played SC, KY Blair Green 6-0 she is skilled and has game i like her, But she played little against SC because of the matchup.

Yeah matchups are key. I do think the 3 of them could feasibly play together quite a bit though. Even if it’s just situationally for 2-3 minutes. When you throw a lineup that big and talented at people they’re going to struggle to stop it.

I think Kellie is shaping up a very nice team, with (God I hope) or without Teonni. I think Salary and Darby will bring more to the table than some expect as well.

Especially Darby's outside shot!

One to open up the rim; one to lock down the paint.

And one master key to control them all!!!

Nice job on the sources. I forget it's a good thing to give credit when you cut and paste someone else's work. I will try to do better.
