I know it's midweek but that looks like a bad loss for LSU. Fans already want Paul gone.

I believe there’s importance on all those series.
3 teams battling for the last spot in tourney (happy that we’re not among that number for once)
I know Hoover would like both in state teams in field. Missouri has to win 2 games to even have a chance

No team has clinched a first round bye but Arkansas only needs a win or an tie at home over Florida.

Like the Vols, Arkansas plays better on road so anything is possible.

Tennessee has the tiebreaker over Florida so their lead is a de facto 1.5 games over the Gators and 2 games over Ole Miss for the bye. So the Vols magic number for bye basically 2 over both teams.

I believe Arkansas wins 2
Georgia wins 2 but may sweep Ole Miss
Mississippi State is not going to play like crap 2 weekends in a row and will take Bama to woodshed for 3 games. They’re playing for national seeding as well
I suspect aTm may end Paul Maneiri at LSU and win 2 or 3
Vandy will sweep Kentucky
Auburn will sweep Missouri who sold their souls to Satan last week
Auburn will get the #12 spot

Holding on to the #2 seed like a madman with his fingernails clawing at a cliff.

With Vanderbilt playing a greatly outmatched Kentucky team; I still expect us to fall back to #3 or #4 seed.

I want that Tuesday off!

Don't think we can realistically get to #1 as Florida would need to win at Arkansas twice and Vols need to beat South Carolina twice more. So we are looking finish from #2 to #5

1. Arkansas..................20-8...........40-10.............. --
2. Tennessee ...............19-9...........41-13.............1.0
3. Vanderbilt...............18-9...........38-12..............1.5
4. Mississippi State....18-10........38-13.............. 2.0

5. Florida.......................17-11........35-17..............1.0 (FL has tiebreaker over OM)
6. Ole Miss...................17-11.........37-16..............1.0
7. South Carolina......15-13.........32-19..............3.0
8. Alabama..................12-15.........29-20..............5.5
9. Georgia....................12-16.........29-22..............6.0
10. LSU............................11-17.........32-21..............7.0 (LS has tiebreaker over KY)
11. Kentucky..................11-17........28-21...............7.0

12. Auburn......................9-19..........24-25.............9.0 (AU has tiebreaker over TAM)

13. Texas A&M...............9-19.........29-25...............--
14. Missouri....................7-21...........14-35..............2.0

As it stands now. Tennessee would play the winner of the single elimination game between #7 South Carolina and #10 LSU in 2nd round game.

Would be rough to play a 4th game in a row against a team. The lower seeded team would be more likely to throw regular rotation than higher seeded team who would likely through a midweek starter in opener to preserve weekend rotation. SC would be playing for a chance to host region

Just in case it comes to it. The Vols have the tiebreaker over Florida (head-to-head) and Mississippi State (record v Ark)
Arkansas (head-to-head) and Ole Miss (record vs. Van.) have the tiebreaker over the Vols.
As a result, Tennessee can finish anywhere from #1 to #5.

Magic Numbers:
To win SEC regular season title: 4 ( wins by UT + 2 losses by AR). I guess technically 3.5 in case of ties or cancellations.
To clinch #2 seed: 2 (combination of wins by UT and losses by VU)
To clinch bye: 1 (wins by UT or losses by OM) Ok. 0.5 technically again.

Tonight will be a tough test. USC throwing their best arm at us. Going to need Heflin to have another great game and the bats to stay hot. Win tonight and we can go into tomorrow with nothing to lose as the bye AND the Super host will be on lock. Let’s get this Friday night dub.

I'm curious to see how our lineup does against Brett Kerry tonight. While it will be a tough test, our guys have already faced the top pitchers (or relief pitchers) of other teams and have been able to eventually score off of them, so they already have the experience. During his postgame interview last night, CV noted how the guys were talking amongst themselves in the dugout while Brandon Jordan was on the bump. They must've seen something that they could eventually work with. I found that encouraging. Hopefully they can use a similar strategy with Kerry tonight.

Here's hoping Heflin has another strong pitching game for us. He's always risen to the occasion.

Time to clinch the series tonight!
