2021 SEC Tournament Game Threads (Excluding Tennessee Games)

Did USCe really have anything to play for though? They are probably hosting a regional anyway and maybe just wanted to give their top guys a rest

I agree, a lot of good things will have to happen to SEVERAL teams for South Carolina not to host.

Regional hosting is not an automatic given for them. Winning one more game at the tourney would be beneficial. They currently are at 16 SEC wins.

If D1 baseball is to be believed, USC is not hosting as of right now. I believe Ole Miss as the 14-seed is the lowest SEC team. So, losing today pretty much guarantees they don’t host.

EDIT: D1 has Florida as the No. 14 and Ole Miss as No. 13. No USC.

Even with the win, Bama is down their Friday guy...I would imagine they will throw their other main weekend guy tomorrow against if I had to guess Mark...so we finally get to see what he can do against SEC bats

Memphis 10 East Carolina 1...don't think ECU has much to gain from conference tourney

Here is my chart on another topic,

The picking the potential sites in advance is working to South Carolina's advantage

average-ranks-jpg.370047

So if you look at the average of rankings and RPI. South Carolina sits as the 16th and list region host. There were 20 potential region sites but Pitt is not included as they squandered that opportunity the last 2.5 weeks and may not even make the tourney.

There are only 3 teams that could steal a hosting slot from South Carolina. Gonzaga, Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech. All three are ranked in the D! poll but South Carolina is not. Two of those schools are actually in the same conference C-USA. Charlotte just ahead of South Carolina is as well. It will be hard for C-USA to get 2 or more slots; especially with them playing each other. Old Dominion is in the CUSA and they can't host but have just as good a chance to win the CUSA as anyone. The C-USA tourney is the primary reason SC can expect to make it. That tourney begins tomorrow in Ruston (advantage Louisiana Tech)

#5 FAU
#4 ODU

#8 MTSU
#1 Charlotte

#7 UTSA
#2 LA Tech

#6 WKU
#3 Southern Miss

If the sites were selected Monday; South Carolina would be completely screwed. Especially in 2021. Even is LaTech wins their tourney; I don't think they'll pass SC and Charlotte would likely fall behind SC

I just heard Chis Burke say what I thought yesterday. SC may host but as a #2 seed. NC State, Oklahoma State or Miami for instance Three hot teams

I like to think if you can just 6 innings of 3-4 run baseball against Alabama from Mark, that sets us up to win. Don't need to shut them down. Just limit the damage and then turn it over to the bullpen for 3 innings.

I think Dallas will start. Same rotation as normal
