2022 Recruits

Guys, Tyler busts a move and breaks for the basket.....Boston of SC steps out to block her lay up..... Tyler flips it out to Justine waiting 25 foot deep..."Wham" another 3 ball from the girl with the flying ponytail....

Tyler bust a move for the basket, Boston and her SC pals, drift out to front Justine, Tyler scores an easy 2 and is fouled by a cock player trying to stop her...She converts the 2 & 1....

Tyler passes to Justine, the cock players converge on Justine...She skip passes back to Tyler for Tyler's easy 3, or she can pass it to any number of Lady Vol scorers...

When Justine and Tyler get here, we are unlimited.....

I can appreciate getting another point guard ! But she is not rated in the top 100 anywhere that I can find? Given a four star ranking that usually means something? Emily Saunders was ranked at 100 and so far mostly a substitute that’s limited. Just Saying

This being said : we are still in on several top
25 ranked players and the 2022 class is certainly not finished as of yet ! But if the coaches believe in this recruit ….. I trust their judgement! I go see as many good players as I can get to , but last year was almost a zero for me ! I have not seen this kid play and therefore I have no judgment against her ? 🤷‍♂

I guess everyone is wanting something to happen ?

She is Ranked here

Blue Star Basketball

ESPN ranks her 24....

Go to You tube and put her name in...There are several clips of her hitting the Justine ball and stealing the ball....She is quick, very quick.

She would be a great addition to go with Miles....Both young ladies move very fast. Besides, I really like her confidence.

If we don't get her, we will just shift gears and go with someone else.

Coach Kellie is working on getting 5 scorers on the floor at the same time...For far to long we have had some good athletes, but they were not scorers.

We all saw what happened when one of our only 2 scorers on the floor couldn't hit the ocean, we got smoked and eliminated....

The top teams have a scorer at every position....And if Coach Kellie has her way, we will be 10 deep with scorers.....

She is ranked the 24th at her position. I have a feeling her rankings will move up after the summer.

I know there are folks that trust their whole evaluation mindset on a ranking number someone else provides and that there will be some stars that will back up that ranking immediately, like a Fudd type player, but there will be others that make a splash without that top ranking. I don't think the current rating system is the end-all authority nor does it do all players justice. Unfortunately, it is the current method of stacking players that is presented to the masses.

I trust the coaches do their homework and find the highly athletic, confident, fundamentally strong, well coached, well adjusted and eager players that actually enhance team talent and chemistry. Talent is crucial but so is attitude and team play. I think this year is the year we step things up a bit in recruiting. Last year was very good and has players who will contribute early but it's time to go get some of the handful of super stars. We're heading in the right direction it seems.

Rickster, I was not even aware of Tyler's ranking until today....I looked it up and was surprised she was not rated higher...

After seeing the post on the 2022 class about her, I looked up some clips on her....Damn, the girl can shoot and scoot....

I hope Miles is the basketball demon we need at the point, but if we had two demons at the point, we would never lose any momentum when switching them out for breathers....

Each demon could give their all knowing relief was just a timeout away.......

Also, I really like her confidence....This girl will not pass up the open look, like some of our 3 point shooters have in the past....

Justine and Saniah, damn what a pair that would be.

The thing I like about Saniah is that teams she plays on win Championships and were 29 and 0 one season. Girls that play in a big city setting like St Louis usually face top competition throughout the year so I think she would be a terrific player for us.

Saniah Tyler (Incarnate Word): The 2021 St. Louis American Player of the Year, Tyler is the consummate point guard who takes care of the most important aspect of the game; which is winning. She was the floor leader and catalyst of the Red Knights’ 29-0 season and run to the Class 6 state championship. The talented 5’6” junior usually came up with her biggest performances in the biggest games and in the biggest moments. She averaged 12.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.2 steals while shooting 36 percent from 3-point range. She already has several offers from top Division I college programs around the country.

Usually means they have been well coached as well. They come with discipline and respect when they play on teams that win like that. Because that’s the only way that happens.

You see lots of top kids these days on bad, poorly coached, teams because their parents moved them to some crap school so they can be the “star.”

I don't really trust all these rankings. Isabelle Harrison was a number 29 back in 2011 when players outside the top 10 were mostly considered basically role players. Nowadays, look at Rae Burell at number 43 or even Rhyne Howard at number 32 or Naz Hillman who was ranked Number 58. There is a lot of talent throughout the top 100. If you get that kid in that going to work hard, have a great attitude, and have that mentality to excel with all of the right physical attributes the rankings don't really matter coming out of high school. Heck, Naz Hillman and Rhyne Howard were both All Americans this past season.

She was not rated due to injury. She was ranked as one of the top PGs her Freshman year of high school and then she tore her ACL when she rehabbed Covid 19 hit which lead her to not being able to play some of her sophomore year as well as some of the summer of 2020. She played this year in high school and also is now back on the summer circuit as this upcoming year is her last year. She will move up in the rankings for sure.

I hope so and agree that is what you want. That’s why we need an elite PG. We haven’t addressed that position.

Would we consider Saniah Tyler and elite pg? @mlindsay stated she had an injury and then covid she didn’t play but had been ranked before.

I googled her and the things that keep coming up are good floor general, great on defense and can create her own shot. Her being injured and covid may have limited the amount of video on her. With the portal being the way it is i wouldn’t be surprised if we got a transfer once every year or every other.

I don’t know. But that should play out with some confidence this summer and see confirmation in terms of who is recruiting her.

Well she already narrowed her list to us, KY, and Az st

That’s not saying she won’t get more offers from actually playing ball this summer though so we shall see … Michigan (the team that just took it to us offered her).

I would love to get back on the circuit and watch some of these games to see who she actually goes up against in these showcases. From what I have seen she definitely has what it takes to be elite, the question is will she be. The good thing is she has the rest of the summer and next school year to increase her rankings and show us whether or not she can become one.

You said she injured her knee? I was looking for something on it but couldn’t find anything. I did notice she went on a posting hiatus from twitter about the time you said though so i wonder if she was recovering then

Amen. That is, I think, the best way to get a feel for players. One trip to the Wide World of Sports Complex (or any big tournament or event sites) and you can come away knowing a whole lot about a particular recruiting class. And the good ones -- the really good ones -- usually stand out quick. Don't need any websites after that.

So you are saying she won’t need an attorney?
