2022 Recruits

You can't win a conference tourney without a good seeding, and the only way to gain a good seeding is to win regular season games.
Well Al, You don't mid if I call you Al do you? Well Al, do you see the little winky face in my post. I intended that to mean my post is a little light hearted retort. But actually any one can beat their seeding by winning their first game. If your going to win it all you are going to have to beat #1 sometime. Why not beat them the first game and get it out of the way?

A little history that gives me that attitude: In 2011 the UConn men were seeded 9th in the Big east which meant they had to play 5 games in 5 days to win the conference. They actually won 9 in a row and were national champions. Not bad for a 9-9 conference record.

Why would I mind if you call me Al? My handle is literally: youcancallmeAl. You don't mind if I call you Needy, do you?

I didn'tnotice the winky until after I posted. Silly me. You being a UConn fan and all, I just automatically figured you didn't know what you're talking about.

Thanks Al! I do enjoy most of your posts. Why don't you call me Bubba, just a redneck from South Carolina

I think Tide already got Karly Weathers, who has a similar game to Edie's.

I know Connecticut fans are thrilled to get to watch their team play basketball again after all the postponements, and I know the staff has ZERO control over what conference they play in …

But DANG! I just caught a glimpse of the Xavier-CT game and the situation is worse than I thought.
i think on the boneyard they said unconn had share tv money with other acc teams. in big east unconn got more money. maybe acc little too hot so unconn got out of the acc.

Briggs had narrowed to Tennessee and Maryland so this at least confirms that were looking in the portal to shore up 2022 class. She was a Burrell type player so this seems to be one of the spots were looking to fill for next season along with post player.

Good news for sure, likely interested because of the success the team has had this season. It looks like a lot of fun to be a Lady Vol again. Suspect her love life played a major role in her final decision. Plus some major friendships.

Kind of a good feeling that she was likely looking at Tennessee because of the basketball being played.

Definitely means were going portal for players after the season. I think more than two players are moving on after the season.

Can't Dye and Green come back?

With this Covid year thing, It's very confusing.
Dye played two years at JC then two at Troy this was her covid year. Green i'm pretty sure this is her last one but could be wrong.

To answer your other question end of bench players like Karoline and Wynn will most likely get more time. Marta will be back from injury so she can help.

But we will def hit the portal and from what I have seen may be some major impact players in the portal

Well you have Burrell, Dye , and Green. Then if walker leaves that makes 4.
Green and Walker would be the players I would think. Walker will be 23 next year think someone said she had a job waiting for her. Green no word on her what her plans are. I think Emily and Rennie will be back.

If Green leaves think Karoline should be the same type inside player. Wynn could possibly be a Dye like player mid-range score to the basket. Don't know where Marta will play seems she would be a player to challenge Karoline and Puckett for time on the court.

Green and Walker are strong possibles not to take a covid year.

I could see Green playing or potentially being a graduate assistant next season if she does not want to continue play.

I do think Walker will move on, but how this season ends could play a part in that. She seems extremely competitive. If we have a strong finish but just come up short in some ways I could see her wanting to use that last year of eligibility.

I do think Rae will move on for certain. I think she’ll be a Top 10 draft pick especially if her play continues to pick up like against Kentucky. I don’t think she needs another year to “prove herself” teams know what she is and what they’ll be getting.

Snoop is a player I wish we had for 4 years. That’s the sad thing about the grad transfers is you only get to enjoy them for a short time. I’m so excited to see our freshman for the next 4 years!

Agree. I think that Green is the only one with remaining eligibility (along w Rae and Jojo) who might possibly stay...although I wouldn't be surprised if she called it a day after this season. She'll be up there with Ali Patberg as far as old women still playing basketball with teenagers lol.

Are you sure Keyen has the option of one more year of eligibility? Did she redshirt last year?

She did not redshirt but because of COVID the 20-21 year did not count. She missed the entire 18-19 season at Liberty with an injury so came to UT with two years of eligibility. Was at LU for 4 seasons but only played 3. So she will still have one season remaining after this if she wishes to use it. All together her career could end up being 7 seasons long.

She’s been a great leader in the program and seems to be interested in coaching. Could definitely see her sticking around as a GA if she opts not to use the eligibility. She likely won’t be done with her PhD.
