2022 Recruits

She plays AAU with the TN Flight I got to watch her many times over the summer and she is definitely a tess like player, very slow on defense and off the dribble can shoot the 3 but is off and on like most kids. Did not fair well with kids more athletic and quick. I'm not sure she can defend any position at this level. She has good size
Saw where she went head to head with Hawk over the summer per Jumper if I'm not mistaken Hawk won that battle. If Hawk can shut her down can she play at TN???

If what you say is correct, the operative question may be is her scoring ability enough to outweigh some defensive discrepancies...Few things in basketball excite the crowds more than a deep 3 ball.

In any event, she does appear to be a fine player. Would you rather play with her, or against her?

A deep 3 ball is like a slap to your opponent's face.....Coach Kellie is building a team of girls that can deliver that 3 ball slap and give "that look" as they go back to defend.

Her look says, "I own you!"....

Strickland is following Tennessee basketball, Kellie Harper, Samantha Williams, Tennessee Lady Vol basketball, and Jon Harper. I think it is a no brainer to offer her a scholarship if she is so inclined to want to play at Tennessee. She has good size is plenty athletic and shoots the three as good as anyone I've seen. She had games where she made seven or eight in one game. This would be a great addition to the roster and then on to the post players.

Tennessee saw up close her and the Cambridge Sisters go at it a few weeks ago in Knoxville. Lopsided game as Ace was without 3 key players but she competed. Ace had 16, Jaloni 18 (best player in Tennessee) and Kennedy 15. She can play at this level... she has size and speed that you can't coach. Does she have things to work on, sure. But this news should intrigue Tennessee to move fast as she won't be on the market long. Like many kids it is her dream school so if they call she's listening.

We offer her she would commit on the spot like Tess Darby did but Kellie knows what’s best and what her team should look like in 2022. I don’t know what position she would play but wouldn’t it be eearily similar to Justine’s, Marta,Sara, and Tess role?

She wouldn't keep TN waiting. Kids growing up here and those few that have a shot at playing at TBA don't weigh options. She would be a wing but would be able to push the ball up the court like a PG.

I think you could have Justine at the three and Ace at the two with Horston playing point. It would be nice to have a player that you could work in and out and that would be Darby and Ace at the two. I am looking more at Marta as a three or stretch four and expect her competition is Justine, Karoline, and Sarah. What I like about Tennessee signing Ace is that it creates the ultimate pressure on an offense if you constantly have players in the game like Ace, Darby, Puckett, Marta, and Justine. You can never collapse the post positions you have to constantly apply pressure to the perimeter players. We need all five of these players hope we add Ace.

To add I like her three point shooting stroke as well as anyone I have seen. She has a beautiful release going to make some team a really sold three point shooter. Much more well rounded than Tess I think even though she is getting to be a better all around player.

Ace?
Not P5 material

She absolutely is so we can agree to disagree on that. Nobody is saying she's going to have her number in the rafters, but she is good enough to contribute to pushing Tennessee back to the top.
Totally agree with you watched a lot of video on her looks like a P5 to me and she did have some offers.

Play against her especially if we already have players like her on the team.

Not saying i don't want her but i don't know that we couldn't plan for her and make her a nonfactor. Especially if we have a player like Tess or Justine coming in.

Right now the position for next season are:
Five Key, Saunders
Four Striplin, Puckett, Suarez
Three Pissott, Puckett, Suarez, Darby
Two Horston, Wynn, Rennie
Point Horston, Miles

Most needed help would seem to be five position and point or combo guard. Poster earlier was right about Green she had taken a redshirt year at Liberty so last year even though injured counted against her eligibility so this is it for her. Not expecting Walker back either so were at eleven meaning four scholarships to offer to transfers. After next season lose Key, Saunders, Horston, and Rennie meaning even if we went as high as three transfers we would be back down to 10 for 2023 and could add up to five players.
So no problem with scholarships just need the right players.

You’re missing Pissott in there. I also suspect Kaiya will play some point and a lot of 2 guard. She reminds me a lot of Brice Calip who Kellie developed into a wonderful player.

Horston/Miles/Wynn/Rennie
Darby/Wynn/Horston/Rennie
Suarez/Horston/Pissott/Darby
Puckett/Suarez/Striplin/Pissott
Key/Striplin/Pissott/Saunders

We definitely need to look for a PG/And post player to come in during the offseason., I think we’re fine at the 2/3/4 positions but Miles will need at least one more year before fully taking the reigns, we need a Center with experience to come in and learn from Key for one year and hopefully remain for an additional 2 years afterward.

Hopefully, Walker will come back and add additional depth to the PG position.
