I just saw where madi mom posted that Madi just eclipsed her 200th career 3 pointer, and recently hit her 1000th point as a sophomore. Now i know she has played since 7th grade but think about it this way, she has done all these things on a HS varsity level as a middle schooler/jv age kid. I dont care what anyone says that is impressive to me.Hey CJ, does Madi project as a shooting guard? What sort of height for SG in P5?
Seems like a super kid. Hope it all works out for her.
Hope my post didn’t sound dismissive. It wasn’t meant as such. Our current SG is 6’2 so I wondered if that would be typical.I just saw where madi mom posted that Madi just eclipsed her 200th career 3 pointer, and recently hit her 1000th point as a sophomore. Scouts have her listed at 5'10 good size SG to me
6'2" shooting guard is very atypical.
5"10" is just fine.
I feel quite confident that were not going to offer ACE as that would've happened by now. Looks like with 11 returning roster players were saving those scholarships to see what the portal has to offer. Looks like were quite comfortable with returning shooters Puckett, Darby and Justine coming in to join them next season. I think were looking at a point guard who could also be a shooter. We must have a post player really need to be elite and have two seasons or eligibility remaining. After the miss on Oldacre I think this will be a portal priority. Think we would take a third player if there was someone in there similar to Dye who can get to the rim and also has mid-range shooting ability. That role could also go to Wynn expect to see a lot of improvement from her next season and hopefully that mask will be gone.
34 percent three point shooter through her junior season. Had made seven three pointers in a game twice I think. Sometimes percentages don't pan out in college. Tess was a 39 percent shooter in high school over four seasons. We'll have to see if she can match that here at Tennessee think she is at 33 percent to this point over last season and this one.Agree that we are likely not offering. Has there been any word on why she reopened her recruitment?
I do suspect she’ll go to a smaller school or at the very least a school that plays smaller ball like Pitt. In her film it looks to me like she gets 90% of her scoring around the basket. Anyone have some actual stats?
She’ll shoot an open 3 if it’s given to her but I wouldn’t say that is her natural predilection and she does not create her own shot. Definitely more of a slasher/floater players with that little baby hook she does. You see a lot of players like her in the Big East and Ivy Leagues.

Not just her, saw a message on Twitter from another WV recruit about fifth year seniors returning making it so they don’t have the ability to play for the school

Interesting, food for thought for other coaches.
For the young ladies as well. WV is a pretty good program in a good conference. Mike Carey plays a deep bench usually so I think they’re being a bit hasty. Have a hard time believing either this young woman or Ace will end up at a more competitive school.
Yes this certainly shows the scholarships were pulled. I am sure both players will find a home. Not just her, saw a message on Twitter from another WV recruit about fifth year seniors returning making it so they don’t have the ability to play for the school

Ace's was not pulled, I cannot speak for Marley as I don't believe she was signed. The hardest part for the class of 2022 is navigating through Covid players on current teams, for both coaches and incoming players. WVU had a change of heart about either allowing or the amount of players returning in recent weeks.Yes this certainly shows the scholarships were pulled. I am sure both players will find a home.
Good luck to her wherever she ends up looks like it want be Tennessee they've had plenty of time to make it happen. I don't think they are going to offer. I like her as a player evidently with Pissott coming in and Rennie, Darby, and Puckett on the roster were looking for help in other areas.Ace's was not pulled, I cannot speak for Marley as I don't believe she was signed. Not necessarily, many kids right now are making their college of choice for the rest of their future/life on what a coach tells them about players returning or not returning. Part of the conversations in being transparent up front on both sides are how many will you carry, how many will you carry in my position you are recruiting me for. While many schools are bringing players back to play for now they are also having conversations about numbers in players not coming back for reassurance to recruits for the future. I speak first hand having watched my kid do it on her journey in a different sport. I'm not disagreeing with your stance either, but saying these are they types of conversations that happen before kids in the 2022 class sign.Incoming players are going to realize quickly they’re going to run into similar issues no matter where they go. Especially at the level these ladies are looking. LOTS of players will be using their COVID year while at schools in the upper echelon of WBB they will mostly be moving on.
A lot of that is coaching decisions. Those middle of the pack programs see an opportunity to retain experience and have a couple good seasons. The top schools know they have to keep bringing in new talent or they’ll be in trouble in a season or two.
I imagine you’ll be hard pressed to find a team below the top 25 that doesn’t have at least a couple players planning to use that extra year. They’re not gonna go pro, they get an extra year of education paid for and can work on their game and enjoy a bonus year of participation they weren’t expecting. Why not?
The problem with those conversations is I don't think coaches have any idea right now who's going and who's staying. I'm sure many of the players themselves haven't made that decision. Then there's the unknown of the post season portal. It is unfortunate for recruits trying to decide where they'll fit best but its the lay of the land right now. Zero guarantees. Not necessarily, many kids right now are making their college of choice for the rest of their future/life on what a coach tells them about players returning or not returning. Patience and loyalty is strained when you tell a kid/player X,Y,Z won't be back. And then X,Y,Z returns. Coaches have a good idea about their rosters in advance, I speak only for my kid as each coach she spoke with had a plan in place of players coming, going and staying. Kids going to D1 programs that are successful expect to be recruited over either every year or every two years.Exactly. And that’s why jumping ship may not be the best idea. We are seeing kids re-commit only to get recruited over again. This is a different landscape. Patience and loyalty are more likely to pay off IMO.
