St John Vianney Girls Basketball smothers Red Bank Catholic in Final

This time it was Hill who turned up the heat the most on the defensive end. She had the assignment of guarding Red Bank Catholic’s six-foot-four star and Tennessee commit Justine Pissott. Hill face guarded her all game long and held the talented junior to eight points.

Cant wait to get this girl on campus. Teams won’t be able to double down on the post and leave her unguarded!

She is unselfish and i hope that changes this summer when she plays AAU ball... She is a difference maker on the perimeter...

Good job Justine in even getting back and playing after having Covid. I’ve had it and it took me MONTHS to feel even a bit normal.

Rest up you gotta summer season to unleash on!

Until she starts bringing in some elite recruits, yes. You and I have signed as many high school All Americans as Kellie. And don't start the spiel about recruiting "her" players, she is whiffing badly...

That's not even in good taste. You know your position has been unchanged from the day she was hired and you always try to find ways to disrespect her because your first few choices were not hired. Suck it up and move on.

Are you going to slam her each time a player goes elsewhere? Do you know Patterson was a primary target?

There is only the top 100 lists ...... So hopefully he is only going to complain about the ones we offer a scholarship too. She (Patterson) is one of six that I know we have offered ? But probably will complain about all 100 ranked players whether we offered a scholarship or not ? 🤷‍♂️

Patterson was definitely a primary target for like us and 70 other schools. Schools have been on her since she was a freshman in high school. These days that is when you have to get in if not before and stay there until time for them to sign. I guess I am one of the few that is proud of the recruiting job that Harper and staff have done in only her second year. I consider getting five players all rated in some services top 100 and three or more in the top 50 as a great job. Of the players left on our offer list I don't see any that will be easy to convince to come to Tennessee. They are in locations where home schools will be tough to beat. We made the top five for Smith out of Texas but beating out Baylor will be tough. My hope is that we do some quick fix recruiting meaning players out of the transfer portal. I think we have three positions that are really solid for next season. If we can get the talent and ability up in the other two positions plus what looks to be a much improved bench next season we will be fine. I think recruiting restrictions will be lifted as soon as May 31 and think there will be lots of action after that date hopefully a lot of positive results for the Lady Vols.

Kellie can still get Smith her team 6-4 teammate sign with KY, Not sure what Baylor roster looks like.

My "position" since she was hired has always been serious concern over her ability to recruit at an elite level, especially given her power five track record. She has done nothing to assuage those concerns...

Were in her top five see what happens terrific top 20 player Blue Star.

I`m with you she can ball and has the length still not 100% from her ACL injury but she getting there she said, Also Volfan2012 to clear the air on this Puckett, Striplin matter. I never said they could not play or was not good enough. First of all i do think Puckett is more skilled then Striplin and is much better offensive player. Now i`m only going by what i have seen on film of the two because i have not seen them live in person. I`m only giving my opinion of the video i have seen. Now do i think Striplin will play yes a lot. But the problem i have with some of the poster they don`t think out side the box. TN has and uphill battle in the SEC right now and so do all the other teams even Kellie noted that how strong the SEC has become from top to bottom. So to me it`s important for any coach in the SEC to how the other teams recruiting and why type of player recruiting. Like OLD Miss i`m pretty sure the run they had this year will help them big time in the recruiting war.

This was by no means a rebuilding job. Kellie should be able to recruit at least as well as Holly did.

She is developing her players and has more to sell than Holly so she should be getting a lot of interest by now even if kids were skeptical of the transition. Kellie is also just as personable as Holly, so I don't think there would be any problems on that front.

Either way, this is the class that will make or break Kellie. Pissott is a really good piece to build upon, but is a long way from being enough given the two preceding classes.

It is what it is. There is no need to make excuses for it. Either she gets the job done or she doesn't. I hope she does. But she needs to look very closely at how they are going about recruiting, and what each person on the staff is contributing. And if there is an ace recruiter she can lure here then it is past time to get them on board.

The other thing we have yet to see is how good she is at spotting talent. COVID made it hard to rate players, and the women's rankings were already a LOT iffier than the men's ratings. The elite girls are easy to spot, but the best of the rest of the top 100 can be harder to figure out even during a normal year. So there was a LOT of opportunity here for Kellie to gain ground on the competition through both identifying talent, and in finding innovative ways to recruit during the shutdown. We will know soon enough how she did.

Not making excuses at all and the recruiting needs to pick up ...

but i don’t get why people didn’t see this job even in some aspect as the $#!+ show it was and the disaster the next coach had to deal with.

While the overall record was above .500 the team did people forget Hollys last team was 7-9 in conference play and 8-8 the year before that. That wasn’t typical TN basketball i think i have taken my orange colored glasses off to realized how far TN had fallen.

Also, when i look back all that stuff was publicized in news papers and on tv and if we remember Rebecca Lobo and the rest of ESPN constantly was talking about the dysfunction at TN. I’m sure players were taking notes of the exits and what people had to say.

We look at the players TN had and we say well the Cupboard wasn’t bare because we had All Americans when Kellie came in. If that’s the case why did we complain about the lack of player development so is that not Kellie building and putting a foundation back into place?

I don’t think “Because we are TN” works anymore nor does “we should never have to do...” the reality TN isn’t what it used to be and it’s gonna take a coach to get them back to where we as fans want them.

Not excuses just facts and YES she needs to pick up the recruiting but i hope the damage that was most recently done doesn’t linger for long and these ladies can make people forget about the past 3-4 years of dysfunction (even some that stemmed all the way from the top with the AD).

I agree! The players we currently have for 2021 and 2022 will not be enough to slow down S.Carolina or Texas A&M. And if coach Mo can add to what she has along with Georgia then I see no SEC Championships in our near future. I like Miles but not sold on her and I like the 2022 guard (Cotton) out of Kentucky over her.

I`m not gonna take anyone side on this issue. The only thing i will say and it`s fair Holly was hand picked by the AD and Kellie was hand picked the AD. So with that being said she needs to get the job done and be held accountable just like Holly and i like KJH.

It's truly astonishing how much Kellie sucks at recruiting...
Give it up man. I swear you are intolerable. We lose any player and she sucks at recruiting. We lose one game and she sucks at coaching. A player has one turnover and they suck at ball handling. We miss one three and we suck at shooting. I don't understand your incessant need to belittle, demean, bash, and trash the team you claim to be a fan of? THIS TEAM IS LEAPS AND BOUNDS BETTER THAN ANY TEAM HOLLY WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR. Not to mention we're twice as good as we were last year with KJH. That's called improvement. This is her F&%$ing second year sir.

What are you doing here? Your negative commentary would be more entertaining if it wasn't so inconsistent, and if you weren't such a coward and didn't hide when positives happen with this program. I don't see or hear you pipe up like a big dog when we win or we get a recruit or when we do anything notable. I suggest asking your Dr. for some new medication because it's clear you are miserable.

I don't see anyone on the offers were recruiting in 2022 that is going to make many people happy so might as well pack up and leave now. I don't think anyone left on our offer list is higher than 20. Patterson was the only one and she is no longer on our list. I'm going to trust the coaches instead of the rankings and if I get let down so be it. The last bunch of highly rated recruits we got didn't do to well other than Rennia. Cooper was highly rated never did anything at any of the three schools she went to. Nared was a high volume shooter that had a great ppg average but her shooting percentage stunk. Deshields was very talented but she could not play very well under Holly. There is nobody on the 2022 that is on our offer list that we know about that would please anyone here. Unless some player that has already shortened their list which we are not on decides to put us back on were looking at players just like 2022 in the 30's 40's and 50's on the list. Since those players are not any good according to several posters here I guess when they leave the site and give up on the team the rest of us can see what they can do on the court in the next couple of seasons.
