2022 Recruits

I`m not gonna take anyone side on this issue. The only thing i will say and it`s fair Holly was hand picked by the AD and Kellie was hand picked the AD. So with that being said she needs to get the job done and be held accountable just like Holly and i like KJH.

Who do you think had the harder job... Holly or Kellie?

I actually think Holly did. Following a legend where there are such high expectations needed perfection, and she was far from perfect.

The advantage for Kellie is that by the time she took over, there was no place to go but up. The fanbase was dwindling and the Lady Vols were basically an also-ran in the national scene. It also helped that Holly didn't leave the cupboard bare, and she had the benefit of some productive, elite talent to work with while she started recruiting her own players.

and see i think Holly benefitted far more with Pats players than Kellie did with Hollys. i say that because Pats players had been trained by the best Hollys players were allowed to get away with stuff from the beginning. I look at Rennia, KK, and Rae to some extend and i see getter development in them then i did with Hollys players.

Following a legend aside i think reestablishing the culture that was torn apart is a task in itself.

I think it helped Kellie that Rennia, KK and Rae were amenable to coaching and weren't damaged beyond repair. Plus, Holly also left Kellie with two very good recruits that she hadn't already tainted.

I can't imagine things were easy for Holly with the circumstances of Pat's retirement and having to take over during a very emotional period. But hand it to Holly...she did pretty damn good her first 3 years or so before the wheels came off.

Good points. A case could be made for Kellie as well. When she took over, the program was in failure and descending. She had to stabilize the program by stopping the descent, keep/recruit/develop players on board, and change attitudes. She actually had to change a culture and that is always difficult. My experience says it is harder to stop failure and reverse it than to start from rock bottom and climb out of it. So while Kellie may be at rock bottom, that mountain takes time to climb back up to where Holly inherited the program. I see them improving but it will take time to get rid of all those ingrained (bad) habits.

I don't see anyone on the offers were recruiting in 2022 that is going to make many people happy so might as well pack up and leave now. I don't think anyone left on our offer list is higher than 20. Patterson was the only one and she is no longer on our list. I'm going to trust the coaches instead of the rankings and if I get let down so be it. The last bunch of highly rated recruits we got didn't do to well other than Rennia. Cooper was highly rated never did anything at any of the three schools she went to. Nared was a high volume shooter that had a great ppg average but her shooting percentage stunk. Deshields was very talented but she could not play very well under Holly. There is nobody on the 2022 that is on our offer list that we know about that would please anyone here. Unless some player that has already shortened their list which we are not on decides to put us back on were looking at players just like 2022 in the 30's 40's and 50's on the list. Since those players are not any good according to several posters here I guess when they leave the site and give up on the team the rest of us can see what they can do on the court in the next couple of seasons.

I`m sure we offered janiah barker and ashlyn watkins correct ?

No not on our offer list. We may have but they are not listed as being offered. Could be we offered and got rejected from the start. Or the offer list could not be complete. I am hoping we don't take anybody outside of the top 50 just save for 2023 and hope to get players there. I'm thinking it has to be all portal and the way players are leaving already going to be a lot of top players available.

There's an official offer list?

Why would you put me on the spot that`s not fair :D
Holly should've had the easier job she inherited a roster full of highly ranked five star players. Kellie had one five star player Davis. Holly kept recruiting top classes including a number one class and kept coach them to .500 or losing SEC seasons. Players have gotten better under Harper Burrell and Key both far better from when she got here and even Horston last part of this season has stated to look much better.

the offer list has to be incomplete there is no way we not offer the two. If she did not offer then that is a mistake on her part i would think.

No there isn't just going by what is on it now. Have no idea who else is on it just saying most of the top 20 have either committed or cut their list. There are still a few wait and see what happens. Lord help us if we sign number 20 and number 30 of the top 100 definitely doomed.

I agree but who do you see in that top 20 that hasn't either committed or cut us off their list. There are a few maybe we will get them.

My "position" since she was hired has always been serious concern over her ability to recruit at an elite level, especially given her power five track record. She has done nothing to assuage those concerns...
Your position is an insecure little boy trying to look big by talking down everything you post
it's old Garth
And you're not wanted here by the Tennessee Lady Vol fans
take a hint and find another team to haunt

Also, Horsten was already committed I think.

Holly first few years she was still coaching under Pat's foundation. As years go by it is her foundation and it was built on Sand and failed. Coach Kellie is now having to build her on foundation and a coach to be successful has to recruit to this. In time we will see but one thing I like is her recruits love the game and understand hard work is what gets you to the top and yes very talented as well. In CHRIST Alone

I agree! The players we currently have for 2021 and 2022 will not be enough to slow down S.Carolina or Texas A&M. And if coach Mo can add to what she has along with Georgia then I see no SEC Championships in our near future. I like Miles but not sold on her and I like the 2022 guard (Cotton) out of Kentucky over her.
Be careful the truth makes some people very angry.

It will be several years into there career before we will know the truth as to rather these players can help us win championships. Some on here act is if there off the radar recruits and not top 50 in the country. In CHRIST Alone

Don't worry, @Hooper22 (who is shockingly nowhere to be found) has vowed Kellie still has an elite recruit from the 22 class in her back pocket and I can't believe he/she would be full of crap...

Holly was stuck in the old ways of playing ball and was not going to change....It was a winning formula in it's day, but, thanks to teams that actually ran an offense, it had become a fading philosophy..Those teams actually shot the 3 ball, not scolded their players for shooting them...It was maddening listening to her yell get the ball inside...

To be successful today, a team has to be able to play big in the post, and hit from the outside...And then hit from deep outside, plus drive the lane like a skilled surgeon doing an open heart incision.

Coach Kellie is doing her best to get us those kind of players...But, there is an element on this forum that just wants to complain, and complain about her, no matter who she recruits...

Since this is a 2022 Thread, Justine is the vanguard of many fine basketball players that will come here to entertain us in the next few seasons...I only hope we are worthy of their efforts.

Thanks Coach Kellie!!!!

I don’t think anyone outside of the coaches knows who has offers ! You used to get hints from people on this forum but since Kellie got hear all you get is CRICKETS ! Take Justine for example ! Nobody heard anything till she had already committed..... And someone from New Jersey ?!?? Who would have guessed that ? But she is not ranked as a top 10 so another bad recruit for Kellie the worst recruiter in our history ! (Sarcasm) Let’s see where we go ..... besides..... I like surprises!

Look out for Ole Miss with Janiah Barker. Georgia is in there pretty deep as well. I am sure there are others but Ole Miss appears to have the edge at the moment with her old AAU Coach on staff for Coach Yo.
