Yeah I was doing both but forgot to include the most important one.

Now that I look at it again, I realize I was wrong. I guess just tracking the entire draft for a year made me forget that he was rated high preseason by some sites. Me not having him nearly as high preseason probably contributed to that as well. He could have been in at least right outside lottery range if he wasn't forced to play PG for us imo

Basilio is primarily a **** stirrer, but he had an interesting comment today. He said that CRB was really pissed off because the TN athletic department dropped the ball as far as developing an N-I-L assistance program and he ended up losing a couple of recruits over the summer because there was no plan in place to help athletes optimize their earning potential. TIFWIW. It was Basilio claiming to have an insider feeding him info.

Honestly I think it's definitely believable. It's embarrassing the lack of NIL opportunities the football and basketball athletes have been presented with.

The questionable part to this would be “who are the couple recruits we lost during the summer”? Not sure I can really think of any that were priority targets, which makes that a little questionable.

Would you count Mitchell as one, potentially?

Cason visited in June.

We haven't necessarily lost them, yet, but it's interesting to think who.

Maybe Miller as well.

If reports/your info are true that he’s still considering Tennessee then I don’t think we’ve lost Mitchell.

Definitely haven’t lost Wallace.

I thought about Miller but that was September that we lost him and it doesn’t sound like that was about NIL.

Perhaps the idea that we lost them is that we lost the momentum we originally had with them. Wallace and Mitchell were both once considered hard Tennessee leans, and then they take a step back. Maybe because they visited other places and were presented better opportunities, and now we are playing catch-up.

Barnes could have been suggesting simply that we lost more immediate commitments from a couple of those kids than just outright losing them.

Can they go to a business and solicit NIL money? So when they recruit they say they have commitments from x number of businesses for y amount of money? Is that what they should be doing? Are they allowed to seek out NIL money for athletes already at UT?

I'm not entirely sure of what they are legally allowed to do. But I can assure they should have been doing that all along because everyone else is/has been.

The irony of this is that I'm nearly certain I remember someone (maybe Basilio, in fact) reporting that Tennessee was in with some kids because of how prepared and diligent they had been on the front end of the NIL changes.

I could've swore I heard the same thing. Thought we looked great because we released a slick video the hour they approved the NIL changes. Maybe it was a bit naive on our/UT's part and they didn't have it lined up as well as they thought?

Also could be that they focused/have more support on football or baseball more so on the NIL side?

Obviously this is all guessing on my part.

I thought the feeling was momentum with Wallace slowed because Kentucky offered?

I heard (or recall) lost a couple this past summer. I assumed 2022 but it could be 2023 or beyond. I think that it was around 1:40 on Wednesday (not certain though… might have been earlier in the 3rd hour). It’s recorded and can be replayed at tonybasilio dot com .

I think I had heard a few weeks earlier that the athletic department changed course and developed a plan to support N-I-L. They were slow to initiate a support program and a couple of basketball recruits dropped TN. Doesn’t mean tgat they later came back into play.

The only deals that I’m familiar with are Fulk/Pals and a football player doing a radio spot for Crown (?) Cleaners.
