The thing is you go out and hire two of the BEST RECRUITERS in the country with all types of ties in the AAU circuit, get recruits interested get them on campus everything thats in the scope of job description of rejuvenating this program making it interesting again but whats not in the job description is closing that kellie job this is concerning...especially when a recruit has been on campus FIVE times
Disagree. Madison had a relationship with Vic before Kellie.

I don’t agree about recruiting! I agree about winning……

Someone made a profound statement !
“ If you build it , they will come !”

Every year we see improvement. First a three month recruiting class . Then a WORLD WIDE PANDEMIC, with no tournament! Then a top 15 recruiting class . Then a top #11 freshman and the best portal hall ……. Now if we win , they will come ! Just My Opinion

You have to prove you can play with the South Carolina’s, UConn’s, Stanford’s ! Don’t we play them this year …… let’s see how this season goes ? Then all you nae sayer’s can come back out of your cave’s .
We beat South Carolina regular season Rennia’s senior year.

I think some of these kids have handlers who are pushing them to go where the money is. NIL wasn’t established to pay hs recruits to sign with a school. It was established to give them an opportunity to earn money once they get there. The Tennessee collective has already raised 4.5 million for student athletes plus you have OMD and the Lady Vol Boost(Her) Club and Edie, even as a walk on, is benefiting from that. Kellie has put someone in place to help the team with creating their brand. Tess has a ton of NIL deals because she’s out there working for it. Rickea got an NIL deal with a local dealership and got a custom Charger in her deal. Kellie is going to do it the right way and not do back door deals. If we play to our potential and get to the final 4 this season, we’ll get the recruits. You’re going to have kids that are chasing money and kids that are chasing championships and I for one, will take the latter. If a kid chases the money, I would think they’re all about me and not about we

Yes, Kellie is not going to hand out jobs to recruits’ family members.

I'm seeing a lot of arguments that it's OK to miss on HS players and fill the roster with transfers. But that doesn't seem to be Kellie's preferred approach. She is recruiting HS players, correct? Is she doing that just to keep busy or does she intend to accept those commitments? If Velez, ADR, Booker and Nichols all wanted to come - would she take them? Or would she tell them no thanks - we'll take our chances in the portal next year. This past off season worked out great - but that wasn't the plan was it? We recruited HS players last year also - and if enough of them had said yes we wouldn't have had room for all the portal players. High School players are plan A and the portal is to fix the plan when it doesn't work out the way you would like.

It makes no sense that LSU would have more NIL sway than the LVs. As a native of Baton Rouge, it is well known around LSU circles about concerns about how LSU might not be competitive with NIL due to how poor the area is, that Louisiana is always in the bottom 3 in having successful companies (the bedrock for NILs) and #1 in brain drain (college graduates leaving the state). Moreover, LSU is such a football, baseball, and gymnastics school (leads nation in attendance for the latter 2) that both the men's and women's basketball only draw crowds if they are very good. LSU NIL money mostly goes to the above sport, with an LSU gymnast scoring a huge deal. I think that their recruiting success now has much more to do with having Kim as head coach and the best 2023 player being from Louisiana making the odds for the 2023nsignees being on a national championship team than NIL.

I personally don't think necessarily that LSU can't play the NIL game, they do have some big boosters that will spend the money. The athletic department has no issues getting or spending the money, the academic side is another issue but that is separate from athletics which has different fundings. If you were to compare their boosters and NIL with someone like Texas/Texas A&M then yes they are most certainly behind. Although to be fair most would be behind the oil money schools.

I do think Kim being there is 100% the reason people are opening up check books and doing whatever she wants. They have treated her like a god so far at LSU. That was never happening under Fargas. Now if Kim doesn't win down the road that check book will eventually dry up.

While it would be disappointing to strike out on ADR and Velez, filling those roles with *experienced* transfers, I think sometimes can be even better. A lot of you all act like it’s the end of the world, same thing last year, and Kellie and staff brought in undoubtedly 4 studs from the portal. This 2022-23 team is going to be something special. Support these girls this year, we can worry about next year when the time comes, tomorrow’s not promised folks. It’ll be okay. Go Lady Vols always!

The coaches are finding players/positions where they can ….. point guard …… Jasmine , then Walker plus Miles , then Powell , now hoping for Velez….. It’s a process and we’ve gotten better every year ! Post …. Remember KK , TK , Strickland, now Hollingshead..

Sending players to the pros…. First Rennia , then Rae , next will be Jordan and Jackson and TK …. Anyone with half a brain and just a little basketball knowledge can see what’s happening at UT with our Lady Vols …… can’t we just enjoy the ride …… I can’t wait for what’s next !😁

I've got my eye on a few '22s that we missed out on, tbh. Not to wish them to have a bad time at the schools they chose, but to say I'd be thrilled if they made us their next destination should they choose to transfer. And if we do well this season, we'd have our pick of '21s and (ideally) '22s who do enter the portal, combined with our pick of 2024s. With emphasis on: if we do well this season. Which I think we will.

I agree with everyone that says we must sign some top high school players. It has to happen still the final roster and it's potential is all that counts no matter where the players came from. Kellie seemed to think we were in very good position with three or four players and that seems to be true. Will they all pick another school that could happen. All the top high school players get 50 plus offers and there can only be one winner. We need to win two or three maybe we will. The internet trolls are not always right as to their suggestions of where a player is going, leaning etc. I will be happy if we get any of the four cause everyone of them is an elite player.

A coach leaves get fired or for any other reason Tennessee could be back in the picture for a lot of players going elsewhere next season. Hollingshead selected Georgia but was high on Tennessee and she is here now.

Yep, Kim is Louisiana royalty like Pat was Tennessee royalty. I was just now trying to decide if I thought there was anything Kim could do that would make LSU fans turn on her, and I can't think of anything except, maybe, if she held a press conference to proclaim Louisiana gumbo sucks while emptying her bladder onto an American flag and then setting it on fire. 🤪

After everything, we legit might not sign one of these recruits.

It’s very possible but I doubt it.

Tennessee laws can’t compete with Louisiana laws concerning NIL. That’s something the coaches have zero control over. It’s up to Nashville to change them.

I’m not going to throw around the “negative recruiting” rumors. Every school throws shade at the others they are competing with for recruits. I will say, however, that what is said on this board does get back to recruits, both the good and the bad.

Until Tennessee shows that it can complete year in and year out for championships, recruiting cycles are going to be like this.
