2023 Recruiting

This is not the first incident in the history of mankind of fans throwing objects onto the field when they feel they have been screwed. Probably occurs every week somewhere in sports. Poor sportsmanship by a handful of fans is all it is but there will be those who will exploit the event to give the fan base a black eye and give the extremists something to bash with.

I started this on here and i truly think our recruits will see this for what it is... a couple hundred being idiots out of many thousands in the stands.

I mean our fans are passionate just look at us , look at volleyball, soccer, softball, and baseball last year was NUTS. That's what i hope they take away. The important part will be how UT moves forward and addresses this.

Ashlynn and her family seem like good people but they come from Indiana where basketball rules so they probably know something about a rowdy fan or 2. All in all i'm sure Kellie and her coaches were all over it checking on the Shades and making sure they feel comfortable.
Thanks for talking me off the ledge a bit! I woke up worried about Ashlynn and her family!

You have got to admit it takes a supreme level of idiocy to turn a jerk like Lane Kiffen into a sympathetic figure. A golf ball? Really?
So the story of the day is not the amazing game and the amazing crowd. It is about a couple hundred babies. What a wasted opportunity fir UT.

It's ok i was PISSED yesterday! Then I calmed down and realized unfortunately the actions of a few often getting mistaken for the intentions of the many. Neyland was rocking and soon TBA will be as well and prayerfully Ashlynn will be a part of that .

Already happening those minority of fans gave ESPN and the talking heads a silver bullet to run with for the next several days. Thinking before acting is just something some people don't know exists.

I wonder how much Kiffin paid the jerk who threw a golf ball at him.

We should have a higher standard. There is no excuse for what happened last night. None. Period.

You are correct in this, but the many should not be castigated for the actions of a few. Though I completely disagree with the method chosen to show angst, I do agree that there were many reasons for frustration on the part of the fans. Fodder for many discussions going forward.

I agree. However, it was maybe 100 or fewer fans out of 110,000. And many, many fans still hate Kiffin for the way he left and leaving our football program in a weak and vulnerable position. Those kids he recruited trusted him. To my knowledge, he never apologized. Then, the refs took away a touchdown and a first down from us that had a huge impact on the game. I’m sure not one Vol fan is happy about that. But all of this was just too much for those fans that threw crap on the field. In the 1970s, I was at a TN v. KY game in Lexington. A group of KY fans threw their transistor radios at UT fans at the end of the game. They hit Bill Battle’s wife in the head…and a few others. Etc. Not an excuse, but those 100 UT fans just broke.

I'm guessing more than just 100. The sidelines were littered with hundreds of water bottles and other projectiles. Your point is taken, but there should be arrests made this week after the police review film. Hurling objects with mass and weight like mustard bottles and glass bottles and bottles filled with water and golf balls, etc. is an assault on other people, and should be prosecuted for criminal behavior.

Yep. I agree. Therefore the participants should be prosecuted if they can identify them.

How much does the Webb School cost?

Annual tuition (as of the 2019-2020 school year) is $66,130 for boarding students and $47,035 for day students, including meals, books, and fees. Tuition at Webb School in Bell Buckle where Rosario is going this year.

I don’t condone their behavior, but I also believe there are worse crimes to worry about.

Worse than that?
I could post examples all day.

The new players they are getting are not paying that. They had a couple wealthy benefactors step up in a big way to improve athletics at Webb in Bell Buckle. It started with Keon and they used that momentum to hire the new girls basketball coach and give him the free reign.

Is that reign or rein? Not being snarky. I don’t know. Seemingly could be either.
