2023 Recruiting

A 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐️ or 4⭐⭐⭐⭐️ recruit is a HUGE asset to any program I don’t care what team is or isn’t recruiting them.
Stop spreading propaganda when it comes to the recruiting process. Every highly recruited player doesn’t want to go to Tennessee, UConn, South Carolina, LSU, etc. Some will pick Miami, UCLA, Duke, etc. Let these kids be and pick wherever they decide is the best place for them. The coaches can give their best pitch and effort.. that’s all there is to it.
Tennessee has a consensus 2022 All-American on their way to Rocky Top & arguably the most coveted PG in the Portal that Tennessee battled for their services with Louisville, Baylor, Ole Miss, and Alabama for the commitment of former 4⭐⭐⭐⭐️ Jasmine Powell. Nothing being posted or said can diminish the significance of those two players being great talents heading to Tennessee.
I don’t know what makes you folks sleep at night but being 23-8 and a 4 seed in the NCAA tourney despite facing multiple key injuries this season got me getting plenty of REST.
No need to focus on small talk and constant bickering.
And I’ll say this too.. that the last LV practice video with Striplin shows exactly what is to come in the NCAA tourney & next 3 years. You heard it here first that player is going to make All-SEC next season.

It's good to be happy where you are. It's better to be happy where you are and hungry for more.

I fully expect a big leap in Striplin's game for her sophomore year, but IMO all-SEC might have to wait until her junior year. Key will still be here next season and I expect her to make all-SEC, so I don't anticipate two posts from the same team being selected for the honor. Striplin will grow leaps and bounds next season, though.

It’ll be great to get a recruit that UCONN and South Carolina are actively recruiting! I could be wrong but I don’t remember either of those schools recruiting Kellie’s recruits.

I’ll be happy to see her and this staff win a recruiting war with the current big dogs!

The last one Tennessee won was Horston but that was Holly.

in the case of Jazz Powell (although she is a transfer not an incoming freshman) Coach Joy was assigned because she coached at Michigan and had connections to coaches in that area. She actually reached out to her trainer i believe so it wasn't even a coach? But she knew the right people to get TN foot in the door. Coach Sam has numberous connections from her days at Duke and UL that contact her about kids I would assume she is the lead recruiter. Kellie has the luxury of having two recruiting coordinators (joy was one at FSU) on staff.
…”numberous” Rec! 😎

Actually, it was Kellie. Kellie had to win Horston to stay just like she did TK.

All the leg work was done. Since she never decommitted you can't give that to Kellie. Also Horston talked about the signs that pointed her to Tennessee when she committed to Holly. I don't think UConn or SC really recruited TK, at least not hard. They both were battling for Boston.

Kellie had to fly out and meet TK at the Boo Williams tourney in VA and fly to Ohio after that to recruit Jordy when she got the job. Horstons mom said after meeting Kellie and Jon she knew that's where she wanted Jordan to go. Ao while the leg work was done Kellie sealed the deals with both of those players.

TK ALSO CONSIDERED Florida State Seminoles, Louisville Cardinals, Duke Blue Devils, Virginia Tech Hokies. She could have changed her commitment in a second with the change of coaching staff, but stayed.

Whether the leg work was done or not, whenever a coach is fired or resigns not only does the incoming coach have to encourage the current players to stay but she/he also has to convince (re-recruit) the incoming players signed to stay committed. Them announcing whether they decommitted is irrelevant. So yes Holly gets credit for the initial commitment, but Kellie also gets the credit for ensuring not only that they stay but that they have become great players for us, whether some of you believe it or not.

It amazes me how many of you can continue to say you're Lady Vol fans but every thread show your disdain for everything concerning Kellie and/or the players. I just don't get it and probably never will. Are y'all really fans? You don't always have to be all in (Positive) but some of you (and I am not saying you in particular) are never satisfied with anything Lady Vols and that's disheartening.

Shiverz IS NOT a Lady Vol fan.

So if the players hadn't stayed, it would have been Kellie's fault...but since they did stay, Holly gets the credit?

No it wouldn’t have been Kellie’s fault. It would’ve been understandable had they not stayed because that’s not who originally built the relationship and recruited them.

In my eyes, the coaching change didn’t really matter to TK or Jordan, I’m sure it helped that Kellie seems personable and fun to be coached by, but if the coach was the top priority for them, they would’ve left with Holly, like MiMi. No matter how one slices or dices it, I’ll forever look at both as Holly’s recruits.
