Any idea why Darby isn’t on scholarship? Seems odd with only one 22 and no a too heavy roster… Maybe we just want to play the portal game but imo it’s pretty dishonorable by the staff w/ 15 available

My guess is that it’s a play to say “we only take top 25 MCDonalds AA recruits or nothing…” to convince younger recruits she doesn’t matter or something? Like “I swear we’ll get top players” Idk tho maybe she’ll “earn” it this off season

although we have 1 22 we are at 13...we have another offer out that would possibly put us at 14. Obviously she committed knowing she was going to be a walk -on so i guess if this is her dream school and she was going to walk on save a scholarship just incase.

It's not dishonorable if a kid signs up and knows what she is signing up for. Also, id expect our 23 and 24 classes to be larger and saving that scholarship allows that to happen.

My question is what other offers did she have?

in the case of Jazz Powell (although she is a transfer not an incoming freshman) Coach Joy was assigned because she coached at Michigan and had connections to coaches in that area. She actually reached out to her trainer i believe so it wasn't even a coach? But she knew the right people to get TN foot in the door. Coach Sam has numberous connections from her days at Duke and UL that contact her about kids I would assume she is the lead recruiter. Kellie has the luxury of having two recruiting coordinators (joy was one at FSU) on staff.
