Rob putting his name out there didn’t help at all, that’s for sure. Prior to that I would have said almost a certainty assuming everything goes well on his visit, now some others may look to get involved.

So are we thinking Tennessee may take Estrella, Phillips, and Chinyelu? Plus Dilione and Cosby/Demary? All in the fall? You'd also mentioned he might enroll mid-year.

Yes, this wouldn’t be to replace someone, it would be taking a 5th (assuming they land Estrella & Cosby/Demary)…as for mid year, I don’t think it’s been discussed to this point, but he already 18 and we have the open spot so I would think there’s a chance of it. I wouldn’t expect him to play this year if it happened, but may be nice to get him here and acclimated.

Obviously a long way to go, and no telling who other schools add, but if Tennessee closes the fall adding Estrella, Chinyelu (assuming he’s ~125) & Cosby they would likely have a Top 3 class. Probably would also be the best fall signing class that Tennessee has ever had, would be really strong top to bottom.

Probably, they’ve brought guys in before on non-football weekends too though…each kid is different, some aren’t interested in that and would rather have the extra time with the coaches, or the staff feels that would be more beneficial. But yea, it’s probably this weekend.

Yeah, good chance the kid couldn’t care less about the game, itself, but it’s a great opportunity to show off the campus, pomp and circumstance, fan excitement/involvement, and student life away from basketball.

I met a professor from Nigeria (he lives there, not here) earlier this summer and was surprised to learn that the political situation over there has gotten really bad. Like kidnappings and disappearances bad. Might be an additional factor for this kid and his family.

Either way, something to be aware of since it doesn’t get a lot of airtime over here.

One of our Franchisees has a son that was in Lagos working for the State Dept., he literally had two full time marines as bodyguards and was driven around in a bullet proof limo. A lot of African nations are dealing with everything from civil wars to food shortages. And lots of organized crime.

Something worth noting is that Chinyelu plays alongside Tierry Darlan at the NBA Academy in Africa…Darlan is a 6’6”/6’7” SF type who is considered by many to be a Top 5-10 talent in the 2023 should he go the college route, which he currently plans to do. No clue at all if Tennessee is or will pursue, but probably worth keeping in mind.

If we were to land Chinyelu, and then get Cosby, that’s 5. Do you think we would take a 6th player in the Fall?
