2024 NBA Offseason

When I was like 13, they put his whole name in an issue of SLAM and I memorized it for some reason. My faulty memory

Dikembe Mutumbo Mpolando Mukamba Diken Jean Jacque Wa Mutumbo

Now that the dust has settled on the Knicks trade, I don't think they are as good as the Celtics if both teams are full strength, and they may be better than the Bucks and 76ers, but it's a scary matchup problem for them in the paint.

In hindsight, because they lost Hartenstein after the fact with the OG trade, it was a bad trade. OG is a better player, but the injury risk + the price was too much.

And once they lost Hartenstein, the move should've been Jarrett Allen, not KAT.

Going to be amazing in the regular season though

I do not care about Dame at all, but the hate here is so strong it kinda makes me wanna go the other way šŸ˜„

Edit: It's weird that I don't care about Dame. He played for Weber St while that was in my back yard. And I think he's really good, too. I also think he's exciting. But I just don't care.

Not only is Mutumbo a hall of fame basketball player, he has one of the greatest commercials of all time and one of the funniest stories about an NBA player of all time

The Hawks franchise just had a moment of silence for Mutombo during the Indiana-Atlanta NBA preseason game.

Two picks seems a small bit brazen here, but in fairness, some past Knick GMs would have counter-offered with three first round picks.

There is no way I'd take less than two 1sts. If you got one random future 1st, you'd hope and pray to draft a player of Kessler's quality. Most likely, you draft a guy who you never like. Factor in super cheap salary and age.

I guess if I'm the Knicks GM, and I really believe we're going to have one of the best records in the NBA for the next few years (54.5 wins is the over/under line for 24-25) . . . I could see sending the two late round picks for Kessler as being very good value. Still, it is a hard thing to do because picks are so useful. Now that there is a known price out there, they probably won't get another crack.

I would have done it if I were them bc Kessler gives them so much more flexibility with the cap, even if they don't have the picks. They are locked into KAT's huge contract for 4 years. They could've been so deep and had pieces to move for the next 3-4 years if they make the Kessler trade.

Brunson - 4 yrs
Hart - 4 yrs
Bridges - 2 yrs
OG - 4 years
Robinson - 2 yrs
McBride - 3 yrs
Kessler - 2 yrs
Randle - 2 yrs
DDV - 3 years

That team is so good, both young and experienced, and you can keep the best 7 together for at least 4 years. I think it's worth 2 picks. They keep the Villanova thing together. DDV played like a $28m player last year and he's making $11m per year. I hate trading underpaid guys for overpaid guys. Now they have no depth and if OG goes down, what are they gonna do about Giannis and Embiid? KAT will be in foul trouble every game.

KAT - 4 yrs
Brunson - 4 yrs
Hart - 4 yrs
Bridges - 2 yrs
OG - 4 years
Robinson - 2 yrs
McBride - 3 yrs

The depth problem will be the thing to watch. A hard practice here and there or not, the "Thibs grinds his teams down" narratives are overdone at this point. No one is out here in today's league playing Allen Iverson minutes. This being New York, though, God help him if they limp into April again.
