2024 Presidential Race

Idk enough about JD Vance politically to have an opinion here. I watched the movie a few years back and remember it being pretty good. But couldn’t tell you anything he’s really done/said politically.

Why should I hate this guy?

You shouldn’t hate him. But conversely why should you like him? 🤷‍♂️

and he tweeted a lie - neither Trump nor Vance want to raise taxes on middle-class families.

Agreed. The last trump tax cut saved the middle class and lower class a lot.

But Dems are still upset because they now have to pay their own local taxes instead of having everyone else subsidize them.

The only point he may have is regarding tariffs. You could argue a tariff is an indirect tax

That’s where maybe I should have been more specific in my post. I didn’t say “swing voters” I said “swing votes from your opponent” meaning to sway and switch parties. I personally don’t think there are really that many undecideds out there anymore.
That last part is difficult to judge and I've no idea how it could be accurately quantified. Even assuming you're correct (which I certainly do regarding the divide drawn along partisanship lines) I think whatever ambiguity is out there is resting more on Harris. If Biden/Harris wins it is almost a certainty that the latter will spend at least some time as POTUS. While of course that's a possibility with Vance if Harris looks the fool it's simply going to carry more weight. There's almost no way around that being the case. To your point would be "How many votes are even in play?" and I just don't know.

Maybe going full send is the plan. In your face, loud, outspoken. People are more jaded in 2024 than 2016. I think that attitude might fire up some people who were non voters in 2020. But I'm just spit balling. Not a huge fan of the pick.

I meant that Trump has that base covered. Someone more deliberate would have added a new dimension to the process.

He’ll destroy Harris in debate, (as would just about anyone with an IQ above that of a head of cabbage) but the question is ... does anybody really care? Is the VP debate going to have a enough bearing to swing votes away from your opponent to you? I just don’t see it.

Same. Just don’t think at this point that many people care about VP debates. Pence made Harris look like the fool she is back in 2020, but that didn’t move the needle for Trump.

JD Vance will be a great VP for MAGA and I've said he's the most representative Republican in the U.S. Senate. It's not even close. He checks all the boxes we've discussed, including the most important one: making sure the administrative state fears replacing Donald Trump.

One caveat, however.

There better be an agreement with Mike DeWine for Vivek Ramaswamy to become the next senator. If DeWine makes Matt Dolan, who was twice rejected by Republicans in Ohio, it’ll be a reversal for their entire movement AND the entire party in the region.

Yeah.

Because ya’ll wouldn’t have expressed any harsh criticism toward Rubio or Burgman….

Trump understands what the rest of the GOP doesn’t. That no matter who it is, what they’ve done, or what they believe, the (R) next to their name proves they are:

Racist
Sexist
Homophobic
Xenophobic
Islamophobic
Transphobic
White Nationalist
Gun Nut

So F’ It!!!! Stop worrying about what the leftist think and keep it movin!

I don't know that the Dems will have a heavy lift in casting Vance as extremely right. But that's really not the issue, since the people voting for him already know that.

A more salient question is how Vance would react to direction from Trump to do something Vance believed was unlawful. Basically, to put him in Pence's shoes and see which way he'd go -- follow the law and his conscience, a la Pence -- or do what Trump tell him to and perhaps paves the way for him to be the next Trump with the MAGA base.

I don't know, I guess I just think that the challenger is always better off not cloning himself.

I remember the discussion we had in this very forum. The usual suspect was pushing the stupidity of “my refund check is smaller!” to wit most of us replied our take home was noticeably bigger. I remember even comparing year end paystubs and pointing out just how much bigger my take home and ultimate tax burden was.

So I’m not shocked by the stupid false claim in puddinhead’s tweet. It’s right in message in fact.

Lots of stuff is unraveling on the Seth Rich FOIA suit. Going through documents now. Evil people. (court appears to be granting an amended complaint expanding the suit as well) A ton of people should be in jail on all russia gate ****, and they probably had him taken care of.
