Well I would say being a Senator is qualfying, but then think of Harris.
What policies do you disagree with?
Harris statistically speaking was the most liberal Senator. I would venture a guess that JD is about the most conservative

That said, I think he’ll do well in the VP debate

As for policies, I don’t share Vance’s right wing stances on abortion and gay marriage. These are losing issues for Republicans and they need to back away from them

maybe they have polling that Vance appeals to union workers in the midwest and PA? all I can figure strategically.

As crazy as it sounds, I don’t think strategy had anything to do with the pick. I personally think Trump picked someone that he felt was in his own image and would carry himself the way he does. One would think he would strategically pick a VP that would help ensure winning the election first before picking someone to succeed him. Leave it to Trump to arrogantly put the cart before the horse. I still think he wins, but I don’t think he really helped his cause with this pick. I think the only way he loses is to submarine his own self, which he is more than capable of doing and this is a step in that direction. Just my opinion.

Pretty sure that was the reasoning behind the pick.

I'm sure there was. Just seems like it gives the Dems a lot to work with in criticism of it. Had he chosen Rubio or Burgman he could have used them to offset the criticism that Trump is too brash, too quick to judge, not calm and deliberate.

I don't get the Vance pick either, what demographic does he think this pick helps him with?

Doesn’t help with anyone. Trump needs more support from suburban women. Vance doesn’t help him there at all. Vance will be a good yes man, but that’s assuming Trump wins which, contrary to what some are saying, is not a given. Wasted opportunity to pick up votes from a demographic he still doesn’t poll well with.

He will be debating one of the biggest clowns in politics. Not mopping the floor with Harris would be an indictment on Vance.

you know, without looking it up, I would place a bet on GHWB having the same views as Vance on those two issues. So how was one a good pick and not the other?

He’ll destroy Harris in debate, (as would just about anyone with an IQ above that of a head of cabbage) but the question is ... does anybody really care? Is the VP debate going to have a enough bearing to swing votes away from your opponent to you? I just don’t see it.

The VP debate should be easy enough for a toddler to win even. The first time she tries the “I’m speaking” BS Vance just replies “Oh really? Why now because for four years you haven’t said or done a damn thing”

Considering that there is a good chance neither candidate completes a 4 year term the VP pick might be the deciding factor for many.
