2024 Presidential Race

Get a new schtick, Dems. This whole “threat to democracy” narrative is ridiculous, tired and worn out. Wanna talk about threat to democracy? Let’s talk about 12 million illegals the democrats would love to see vote, but they don’t seem to discuss or even deny that. Wonder why?
The assassination attempt does not render Trump immune from criticism over the way he handled losing the 2020 Presidential Election.

Prior to the formal process of certifying the electoral college vote on January 6, 2021, Trump attempted to publicly pressure his Vice President into not including electoral college votes from 7 states they had lost in the election.

A riot ensued at the Capitol that day, because a gathering of Trump's supporters believed that his proposed "alternate elector" scheme could actually work, if Mike Pence went along with the plan. Trump should not have been telling his supporters that it was still possible for him to retain the office of the presidency on January 6, 2021 (It wasn't.), and Trump should not have been touting his fake elector scheme as a viable path to victory. The election was over in December as soon as the Electoral College had met, and appointed legal slates of electors, and the Supreme Court had declined to become involved.

Democrats have just as much right to make an issue of that, as Republicans do border security and illegal immigration. It was wrong, and Trump has never expressed any contrition over it. To the contrary, he has even doubled down on it, which Trump will always do when he has either done or said something stupid.

Here’s a good reason

Nationwide ... Harris has taken a slight lead in the Real Clear Polling Average.

It is basically a dead heat in the battleground states, and Harris hasn't even had her convention yet.

I guess this is when polls go back to not being reliable sources of data to the VN Politics Forum echo chamber?

Just come to grips with Trump back in the White House. People pay attention to their paychecks and wallets, even some of the environmental left-wing nut jobs. The Honeymoon is over for the ho.

I still think its Shapiro
Shapiro has some baggage. He supports school vouchers, which I can not understate how contentious of an issue that is among liberals. There's also some chatter of a sexual harassment issue (not him personally, but basically he helped a buddy get out of it is my understanding, I need to do some more reading).

Then there is the whole Israel and Palestine issue, which is weird because Walz doesn't get the same criticism about and Walz has been very strong in his support of Israel.

LOL. Well, now ..... why shouldn't someone take your opinion seriously? You appear to be quite the intellect.

you consider .2 a "slight lead" but characterize a Trump lead all battle grounds ranging from .2 to 4 points (with the exception of Michigan) as a "dead heat"?

(using all RCP data)

Is getting Pennsylvania worth losing Michigan? Shapiro giveth and taketh.

Sheffield, when you post multiple paragraphs it’s more difficult to comment on each point. So I will just say you are not ignorant. You just know many things that are not true. Cheers.

I don't necessarily think Shapiro would cost her Michigan ..... Muslims are not going to vote for Donald Trump - in light of his Muslim travel ban. The worst that would happen is they would stay at home. It's unclear how that would impact the outcome.

turnout is key in a close race. given how close Michigan has been losing several thousand votes would be major.

there are over 240K muslims in Michigan - even if only 80K of those are registered voters losing 5% of that group would cost 4000 votes

Semantics. They are a dead heat both nationally and in battleground states. Better?

Biden won Michigan in 2020 by over 150,000 votes. I don't think Trump's close standing in Michigan has ever had anything to do with him. It was all about Biden's age.

less biased - yes. at this point, Trump's lead in swing states is 2 points or better in enough of them to take the EC. A more accurate assessment would be that Harris has narrowed the gap but is still at a slight disadvantage.
