I switched from Dem to independent. I think I'm like 80 percent of the country and would describe myself as fiscally conservative and socially liberal. I want much higher enforcement at the border, but think both parties avoid a reasonable solution because they like to run on it.
I favor helping Ukraine as we have. I favor helping Israel but being able to criticize when their actions go too far. I am pro police, but also respect peaceful protest. I resent protestors that turn violent and want them prosecuted.
I don't care who you love but I am put off by self-promoting trans or similar issues. I think there are probably some genuinely trans kids out there, but at early ages think there may be an element of a cry for attention going on that dilutes those claims which are genuine.
Climate change is real. Science is by and large good and it's a shame it gets politicized.
Trump did the right thing in covid based on what we believed at the time. Vaccinations are wise. Inflation is calming, was related in large part to surge in the economy post covid. Trump and Biden did the right thing during covid to keep the economy good, now it's time to reign in spending.
Taxes on the middle class are too high. Taxes on the wealthy are too low. But we do incentivize too many people not to work.
So no party really embraces my own mixed feelings about all these things. And I'm tired of both sides saying that if you agree with one part of the platform of the other, you are an extremist.
