The restaurant industry has been trying to remove the codification on taxes on tips for 30 years before Paul brought it up....

Well we know those are definitely safe with Trump

It just shows the hypocrisy of the right to now fawn all over the idea while calling the other side a thief.

Tax preferences on certain types of earned income is a horrible policy.

Intra-Industry specific tax preferences are horrible policy (i.e FICA tip credit not available to fast casual restaurants but available for full service)

Tax preferences that discriminate against the kid taking orders at Chick Fil A vs one taking orders at Cracker Barrel is a bad idea


Im all for cutting taxes and really cutting spending. There just has to be a rhyme and reason for it...

What we are going to be able to see is the value of "emotions" in selecting a president. See if Kamala gets in the Trump tax cuts go away and corporate takes go up to a minimum of 28%. This will mean thousands of dollars of extra cash going to DC from each and every American if the socialist/communist gets in the WH.

So then we can get a value of this subjective notion. When you vote for Kamala, write in Ron Paul, don't vote, or whatever then the "I can't vote for Trump because he is a bad person" emotion gets a dollar value. It could be $10K, $20K, or more each and every year. Her $10T climate agenda will be supported by you.

I'm mixed on the preferential treatment idea. On one hand this is not company payroll income, but what happens when people leave $100 tips which brings me to another question. Does a gentleman's club dancer have to claim taxable income? If so, how does the government know? This is another form of tips. It would seem they all should be in the same category for taxable income.

Most, not all but most of America falls within the middle, I’ve taken like 2-3 online “where do I fall surveys” and I’m typically slightly right.

Both parties suck and both are corrupt…. But the reason we can’t get them out is well…. Just look at this forum lol

An independent consistently looks at an issue and analyzes it based on the merit of the position, not the party that raised the issue....

I'd like to think I have a pretty independent streak. @utvolpj has one.

Most in here do show a pretty strong preference to one side or the other..

Kamala has laid out her numbers. They are facts and probably conservative given she would be in the WH 8 years. The Jamie Dimon stuff is speculation on your part to justify an emotional based decision for President in November.

If we are playing the speculation game, Kamala's short list for Treasury is Gina Raimondo. She was in the news recently not knowing the recent job downward revisions by the Bureau of Labor which is pretty much her job.

I can't think of a social setting that I or we are ever in where politics is a topic. My friends and I usually have better things to talk about. I choose not to hangout with those who seem to constantly air their grievances in social settings

How is it speculation when Dimon actually said it? You can't do the kind of spending Trump favors and still cut taxes

My vote for potus is not emotional, it's math

It is speculation that Dimon would be in his cabinet. It is speculation if taxes would go up in a Trump presidency.

Kamala has stated as facts that taxes are going up at the individual and corporate levels. You can equate those into dollars (math) to determine the impact on you individually. It is safe to say over 8 years that the outflow to DC would be 6 figures for every American. For me, that is too high of a price to put up with a "bad person and their tweets" for 4 years. Does that help?

They will have to go up because of the spending unless there are serious cuts. Trump has never shown that spending cuts are something he favors. It's already cost us from inflation right?
