During this time they were running the whole, "Don't do drugs" campaign, yet they were supplying the drugs than locking up the people that did them.

Yeah, while Nancy coined the phrase, "just say no", cocaine was being imported in high quantities with the help of the CIA and Reagan's advisors. Our government was complicit with the advent of the crack industry in East LA

The government was not complicit, it was actively involved in it on mass scale. Reagan didn't know at the time, he fell on his sword... Bush has enough distance. Nobody went to jail and it was a massive operation.

Kind of like Russia Gate, large scale government operation with sudo/former government, with foreign government and foreign actors.

That is the stuff they hung people for 200 years ago.

This is failed country because people are getting what they want.... they appear to want more of it.

But those really aren't "takings", the vast majority of those people probably don't even remember it at this point. Most of that has very little to do with the United States. Now, the Japanese camp survivors and their descendants from WWII is a whole different matter and I thought that was a good gesture.

I would say descendants of people that have been drafted into the military over the last 200 years have an actual real claim including the ones that served during the Civil War, although I don't see the need for that either.

The slaves (or their descendants) here generally have no real claim that I can see against the United States. At least not one someone has been willing to explain.

They want money because they are black and they have been willing to stay on the plantation... the irony.

IKR are they going to only tax white people or tax at 50 percent people like in the case of Kamala who have one black parent 😂? She would take taxes from herself then give herself money, but only 50 percent 😂 They can’t do that 😂.everyone would just say we all identify as black. it would be everyone burdened with a tax increase to pay for other people…oh wait, we do that part already.. it’s an impossible thing to do except tax everyone equally and then pay it to one group.. and then how exactly is that determined? Are we doing by fractions, DNA tests, Ancestry reports, what you identify as? 😂.. and a very large proportion of non black citizens didn’t even get here until after slavery was over or had nothing to do with it at all 😂.. too many variables

All those caveats have been brought up before and everyone shrugged. It would be a massive bureaucratic nightmare that’s unnecessary because the initial stance of reparations falls flat. There are no slaves or slaves owners still alive.

They couldn’t get FAFSA out in time for student aid, I seriously doubt they could pull off something so massive.. it would be extremely 1984, Big Brother and creeps me out 😂 I don’t think we want or need the government up in our biznass like that 😂

I used FAFSA for my first year of school. What a nightmare.
So they are missing deadlines now?

Last year FAFSA was supposed to launch a new version in October2023... it came out in February/March 2024 and screwed up millions of college kids stuff.. it was too late for a lot of the colleges to accept.. I even know of a few that had to change colleges as a result of it or stay home or go to community college.. they messed up big time.. it also meant your scholarships may have not been applied.. a mess

Which part?

The United States had nothing to do with the slave trade, the transportation of slaves, etc. The United States had nothing to do with slaves. No money is due to descendants of slaves because their slave masters are long since dead including the ones in Africa. What exactly is the claim against the U.S. from which reparations would be due for a "taking"?

The Japanese Americans during WWII i.e. camps was the direction actions of the U.S. which it has given reparations.... generally I think it was a nice gesture.

They don't even have the right Party to have a claim against, but yes, they have no real recourse even if they had a Party. Of course, the government could create a path, IF there were some type "taking" or "grievance" against the United States but there simply isn't one. I agree the civil rights act addresses all that other stuff... not sure how this other guy thinks someone is owed money for that.

Heck, they can try going to the African countries and see about getting reparations from there as well.
