2024 Presidential Race

I think something is happening right before our eyes. Social media provides anyone a platform who wants it. Some excel at cultivating an audience. Their influence grows. But they are not beholden to the concept they represent a larger philosophy, party, or candidate. The aren't concerned with growing a movement. They only want to appeal to a larger audience. So they say what is on their mind, unfettered. The opposition therefore makes no distinction between the influential individual and the ideals or people with which they align.
Demeaning, belittling, condescending remarks about that opposition feels like it is sanctioned by party leaders. They are then motivated to fight against.
There's been more talk than ever about how "free speech" is now a bad idea, and this has to be a great reason to go there in your head. The whole idea of free speech was that good ideas would push aside stupid ideas. Sometimes I guess millions of people get killed while you're waiting on that process to work.

Clearly you need good parenting to survive, and we don't have it in this country. If you wait for people to learn by failure of what they are told by influencers, it'll take 50 years if ever.

Free speech, by definition, is for unpopular/controversial speech.

Saying things that everyone agrees with doesn't even have a need to be protected.

Hard to understand why Michigan hasn't been called? NBC site has Trump up 93,000 votes and estimates 92,000 votes remain to be counted.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-elections/michigan-president-results

best I can guess is that the estimates of votes to still be counted is not an official number and if mail ins can still come in that number might fluctuate some. I watched last night as states would go from 85% in to 84 or 83% in which makes no sense if they know how much is out but it seems to be the estimates of remaining are just that; estimates.

still, hard to see Michigan not going Trump

As much **** as we give Florida they have this down to a science

If I were Arizona, Michigan and Nevada, I'd be asking politely behind the scenes on how they could improve their systems.

Of course, in the case of Michigan, that would do away with their rampant voter fraud, so, that'll never happen.

We need to thread just for all the liberal meltdown clips. Like a trophy room.
I get it.
I'm old enough to remember TN being a Democrat state even up into the 90's.
I believe the big move to the Republican Party was win Sundquist and the Democrats tried to push through an income tax.

Im in several convos at once this morning. I apologize in advance if i have a bad interpretation of your post.

I do not thing free speech is a bad idea. I do not want to see speech stifled. I see the dynamic with social media influencer's platform somewhat on par with other times in history when new media broke through. We are just in the infancy of the new media. It may take 50 years or more for it to settle into its groove.

Very true, the Rs have no excuses now. Controlling both houses and the McCain, Romney, Ryan faction being in the dust bin of history there is absolutely no excuses for them not enacting promised legislation.
What promised legislation are you talking about? There is a lot out there, but due to MSM it all gets clouded as to what he said vs she said vs MSM. We know how a 1 to 5 person advantage gets legislation passed. Greater chance under Trump but you never know.

I was listening to CNBC when that interview was on. Joe Kernan for the last few months has been calling guest out for their views and dem economic platform past, now and moving forward. They get stunned and shutdown. Sorkin in the end usually endorses the pro-liberal agenda to close.
I don't know how Kernan can stand that twit Sorkin
