Or more likely, they just don't care much about immigration and their interests just lie elsewhere. Like a Christian Latino probably looks at the culture war and sides with R's, while not giving a damn about Haitians, who are also competition for labor.

My perspective (based on the immigrants i hire) they are very interested in immigration because they would love nothing more than bringing immediate and extended family into the country. They want to do it the right way but the system is too complex and expensive to comply. They have more disdain for those who cut corners than I do...but they also understand the motivation to break the rules better than I do too.
