All I remember is that he was from Illinois, and I liked him. I went into the booth with my momma that morning and begged her to vote for him.Anderson was a moderate Republican who went independent, I think. Right? Just a simple memory check here
I agree with a few nitpicky caveats that aren’t worth going into.
I think it was poorly written and left open the possibility of bad judgment, which should be anticipated when writing things that have to be enforced by police.
Just skipping to the end of the book: My initial take on Walz is that he’s a pretty average guy who didn’t set out to get into politics but has made it a very long ways on charisma and affability. He’s not somebody who has all the answers or who can look at a new and novel situation and intuit the right path. He has done some things that likely helped people, but doesn’t seem to contemplate laws will ultimately be enforced by violence. He seems well suited as a VP candidate or legislator. He’s not somebody I would vote for for governor or president.
Carter made some difficult decisions that turned out to be adverse for this country. Some of them would have been easily forgiven if the Iran hostage rescue mission would have been successful. It would have guaranteed another term, IMO.All I remember is that he was from Illinois, and I liked him. I went into the booth with my momma that morning and begged her to vote for him.
She pulled the lever for Carter. I cried and cried.
I was 8.
Can you imagine what a badass he’d be if he got shot in the ear?Carter made some difficult decisions that turned out to be adverse for this country. He actually has turned out to be the baddest ass of all our modern Presidents
Those "circumstances created by Biden" could have easily been overcome if the media had simply done their job and reported the obvious. Biden would not have had a choice but to step back earlier, which would have allowed the Dems to have a full primary in selecting a candidate. This is where it’s Biden’s fault for running again, IMO.
Once they kicked him to the curb, the party had to quickly rally behind one person and picking a senator or governor may have opened the door to other senators and governors asking “why not me?” A contested convention would have been a mess.
@Orangeslice13 had this conversation when it happened. He pointed out that she was an awful candidate, and I agreed, but I thought she was the best choice they could make under the circumstances. Circumstances created by Biden leveraging his incumbency to squash the primary field before it got started.
Ironically, I’m not sure he would have done much worse if they had just left him on the ticket. That might be one the worst performances by a Democrat since Mondale.
True, but unfortunately the Murdoch network offers nothing better. I generally don't watch any "news" networks. Always liked reading WSJ and The Economist. Still do as the alternativeYes indeed. It’s just a left wing propaganda network now. Sad and bad move. People are constantly looking for real honest news these days and they ain’t it.
People already do.They will be like a zoo, we can go visit liberals in their natural habitat
He served in WWII. Trump is a tough SOB to roll off of that so easily. His skin though, is several layers thinner than Carter's. In a time when there was no social media, Carter was getting raked over the coals. He never responded with petulant, personal insults towards those criticizing him. That's what sets him miles apart from the Donald. Can you imagine what a badass he’d be if he got shot in the ear?
Out of the names that have been discussed in the media, this is where I'm at:
