2024 Recruiting Thread

Guess it all depends on the referees what is a travel and what isn't. When we played Missouri their inside player was taking a stroll everytime she touched the ball and none were called. I guess the two foot shuffle was a legal move that day.

Same with the Arkansas-Vandy game where the Vandy player took 5 steps without dribbling before launching the 3 to tie the game in the penultimate play.

No need to get nasty because your favorite player is not college ready. Why not give the coaching staff a chance to bring her along so she can have success instead of being beat down continuously.
It seems a lot of posters forget that Kellie and staff know way more about basketball than ANYONE ON HERE and have more blood sweat and tears invested in this program than ANYONE ON HERE.
I support this team and this staff 100%.
Whose job is it to get her ready? Is Tess or Puckett ready? Both only scored 6 playing 23 and 14 mins respectively. Striplin ready, she scored zero in 7 minutes ? Seems none are ready if that’s the production we get.

Not always the poor player, I use softball as an example. Can't ask a kid to come play for you but still a financial burden after leaving. Some players can do lower D1 get more money plus academic and walk away with zero or play D2 where money is given more freely. Not every kid dreams of the big school, majority do but more and more find their overall better fit on and off the field at the smaller school.
“Or play D2 where money is given more freely”……wth, you think D2 is where the bagmen are I guess….wow.

Not what I’m saying, athletic scholarships is given more freely. Not sure how you read that and incorporate a bagman. Especially when I used softball as an example who’s team scholarships are slightly under 12.

LSU got the same production from their other starters and bench. No other player outside of Reese and Morris scored more than 6 points.

And that means absolutely nothing in regards to our bench as LSU won the game. When you have a player with 31 and 18, production off the bench of 6,5 and 2 is needed when you win the game by 8. Walker playing a great game was our saving grace of it being this close.

And Morris having a career game saved their bacon.

Yeah, you are saying that in D2 money flows/is given more freely. You might want to check your stats again between D1 and D2 available $.

Imari is a “pg” the same was Jasmine Powell is. They have the ball up top and look to score for themselves. She’s a shooting guard

"PG"? I'll take the one most like Morris from LSU. PG, SG, I don't care what you call them. In some respects, I think every player on the team should be considered "point".

Not really, when my oldest received offers from both. And knowing what a few of her teammates chose in regards to D1 or D2, some chose to pay and some chose higher athletic scholarship package at D2. more freely

Yes but you used points as your justification which is why I pointed out that their role players scored on the same level as some of ours. The difference in the game was Morris going crazy. Walker playing great helped the Lady Vols and on most nights would’ve been enough for the extra points the team needed in addition to Jackson and Horston to win, but Horston had an off shooting night by her normal standards. Lady Vols role players outscored LSUs 40-27 which gave the team a chance to win.

I used points as we have older kids ahead of Justine not producing at her position (not just LSU game). Poster stated she’s isn’t ready, and my post was stating it doesn’t seem those ahead of her are either if this is the production given based on minutes. Somehow you felt the need to bring up LSU as if that mattered to Tess, Puckett, Striplin or Justine.

They don’t understand. But you can’t compare softball to basketball in any world when basketball is full ride plus endorsements/NIL now. If anything your paying to be on a D2 in basketball bc of JV teams and larger rosters.

Even the most well known Oklahoma softball girls not on full ride. Basketball always is.
However I’m curious for change to softball money. Jocelyn Alo would be making BANK now.

No comparison at all. For those claiming about NIL and kids needing to be paid have no clue baseball and softball don’t get the same scholarships. Needs to be more fans encouraging full scholarships for those kids before requesting more NIL for those getting free rides.

Absolutely they way Volleyball and Softball and Baseball are significantly carrying their weight in viewership it’s long past time. NCAA only puts their energy in 1 sport and March Madness. At least there are huge changes coming for postseason media rights. Selling each sport individually instead of a tiny package deal (like 15 events) to ESPN. Should be huge for Scholarships

Any poster that realistically looked at Justine in high school knew that her defense was the one area she was going to need to improve especially in the SEC. She is looking more and more comfortable in regards to defense as the season has progressed which shows that she is putting in the extra time to improve and is getting coached up in that area. Striplin and Justine don’t play the same position so I don’t understand her even being brought up. We all know that Tamari’s injury has resulted in her playing more minutes than anticipated against some of the best bigs in the country. Puckett has a tendency to get lost on the perimeter but her versatility helps us on defense because she can guard both perimeter and the paint when needed. Tess is not the quickest but she’s a smart defender and has improved big time on the defensive end. Some games are still bad matchups for her but overall she is a lot better. Tess’s defensive improvements have actually been the reason I’ve been encouraged about the future when it comes to Justine. Justine is more athletic and will be a matchup nightmare once her defense catches up with her offense.

None of them do anything great that warrants JP being on the bench at this point. She’s not sitting behind Holdsclaw type players. You stated as much as why those other haven’t shown they deserve more time, not the quickest, lost perimeter, some games are bad matchups….

What offense? She cant get her shot off in good games. And her minutes have been questionable to say the least. I disagree that she’s anywhere near Tess or Puckett atm. Kellie has given her many opportunities to be that spark and it hasn’t happened. She played extended minutes against LSU compared to her usual and didn’t look like she could stand on the floor tbh.

Give her time and she be a great player but it’s not the answer rn like some posters here believe just bc she has a title by her name out of high school Lmao.

But what do the others in front of her do to keep her on the bench? Two biggest games UConn and LSU, Tess had 6 points in each. That’s not what your “sharp shooter” is supposed to produce.
