Wife a vandie employee/accounting 35 years. Vandie ended up paying his tuition to UTK, where he marched in the P.O.T.S. Band 4 years, graduating in 2002. Tee-hee.
That's great! Well played! I don't have anything against the good fans, much less the opportunities that Vandy provides to their families.
Wife has some vandie friends over years working there & as season ticket holder (baseball), & most of them are OK. But the "sidewalk fans" who just try to latch onto that false"mystique" are mere rubes who hate Tennessee & wallow in their own jealously, insecurity, whiney petulance. Those just curdle my bile.
I get it. My suggestion is that every Vols fan would speak with these good Vandy fans who are great people or even the "mostly ok" in a different way. In private, and as an act of
friendship, out of concern for them. That everyone outside of Vandy thinks that the decent, sophisticated, and sportsmanlike Vandy fans are the ones responsible for the whistler. Not the fringe element and sidewalk "rabble" they want to blame it on. The whistler is there because the good fans refuse to do anything about him.
"I know it shouldn't be that way." But every fan base -- and even or
especially people in different parts of the country -- know that if the good loyal Vandy fans wanted it to stop, it would stop. They are the first people that game security, Corbin, the Vandy administration, and even the SEC Office would listen to. In fact, they are the
only people they will listen to. We just wanted them to know out of friendship.
How's that?
(Everyone add multiple times: "Please don't take offense, I'm just saying this as a true friend to save your school from shame and embarrassment.) I think that would get to them. Don't let them side with you against the whistler until they stop him. Vols foreign policy.
