2024 SEC Tournament

No such thing as a "guarantee" for us as a 1 seed. We lost and so did AZ, but we were, at best, even money with AZ for that #1 seed going into Saturday. All yesterday did was allow UNC to enter the discussion IMO. I just see blue blood bias as our undoing no matter what we do in the tournament. Personally, I'd really cut our starters minutes and try to get as rested/fresh as possible before the grind of the NCAA hits. I'd give Estrella, Carr and Dillione a boat load of minutes in the SECT.

Hindsight is 20/20, but I think that's a fair criticism of Barnes this year. He just didn't develop the bench as well as he could and should have. After yesterday, I'm not holding out a lot of hope with Vescovi. JJJ is a bigger and more athletic player who can get points inside and from midrange. Vescovi is almost totally dependent on his outside shot and even then he's not athletic enough to get his. He has to be left open or set up. His confidence is shot. And when he gives you defense like he did yesterday, you'd like to be able to turn to someone else for some minutes/production. Tell me Carr or Dillione couldn't have given you at least what Vescovi did. Now the hay is in the barn and we live or die by what JJJ and Vescovi can contribute. Some nights our 3 on their 5 might get you a win if our defense is stellar, but most of the time in the NCAAT, it gets you sent home crying in your beer.

I don't think so, Tennessee was ahead until they lost yesterday. The national media was all in on UT as the #1, and had Tennesee beaten Kentucky, they would have remained there. The rhetoric was more or less "look at Tennessee going through this gauntlet and finding ways to win." Simple narrative, and everyone was saying it. Done deal. But then Tennessee lost. And that loss, coupled with Arizona's loss, opened the door for the media to start drumming up support for UNC - which they've started doing. And you can bet your ass those east coast media types will parade UNC around from now until Selection Sunday.

NC will get lots of love until selection Sunday.

Agree. If there is a will, there will be a way for the Committee to gift the last 1 seed to UNC.
Sucks but it is a high probability that they would do this because technically there is not an Old Blue Blood in the field. A Conference Champion and a cake walk through the ACC would secure it. Tennessee would have to match it, but you never can count on the Committee to make the logical choice. So a 9-0 win streak from here on out is the best meds for our team and fans.
Yep. The AZ loss helped, but UNC is right there at the door. Know fans don't like hearing it, but they'll always get the nod over us if it's anywhere close and somewhat justifiable/reasonable. We'd better take care of business in the SECT after all if we covet that 1 seed. Something tells me they'll use it against us if we don't....even though it "doesn't factor in all that much" with the committee or so they claim.

We'll certainly need to win our first tourney game, and maybe two--the second probably against Auburn. I think if we win 2 we've got a very good chance at the 1. The first game is a must. We lose our second game and the committee might drop us in favor of one of the blue bloods--that's often the way it works.

The selection committee will probably give North Carolina the 1 seed in the West region because of their H2H win over Tennessee at Chapel Hill in December.

Arkansas has been playing a lot better basketball lately. Took Kentucky and Alabama to the wire. I think they are going to beat the Gamecocks.

They might if they play the whole game like they did that second half.

But they’ll be in trouble if they play like they did to start the game.

What percentage is Big Blue? How many Vols?
The Big Blue wave hasn’t arrived yet. But many are here already. I’d say Kentucky has the most here tonight and Tennessee is 2nd…other than Arkansas, who is obviously playing tonight. Vandy has a decent crowd (for them).

From what I’m seeing tonight, Kentucky will have the most fans here this week and Tennessee will have the 2nd most…as would be expected.

Every SEC tournament I’ve ever attended, UK had at least 75% of the crowd.
its their “spring vacation“.
