He’s a PG, not a SG, so not fair to look him just as a shooter imo…also, look at his numbers against the best teams the 2 P5 teams he played against, lit them up. Dealt with an injury later in the year that could’ve added to the cold finish. Not sure about Malik Mack 6'1" 170lbs
The good he was a 17.2 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 4.8 apg player that shot 41% FG
The 3P% being just 34.1% is a bit of a question, especially when you dive into his Game Log over his last 7 games to end the season he failed to shoot 34% in every one. He actually went 7 of 38 for 18.4% from deep.
Gainey is bigger and a known product whose numbers were down against much stiffer competition. Unless Mack is a really good PG candidate for backing up ZZ and then taking over after ZZ graduates I'm not sure why you'd want to bring in another small school streaky shooter...especially one that's smaller than the rest of the roster outside ZZ.
He does have 3 years, so that's a positive and as of right now he's the #1 rated PG in the portal according to on3.

I’m a little out of the loop until the tournament is over. I hope that means I don’t hear anything until we are two days into winning our first championship. Prior to last weekend, they were very active with Gillespie and Thomas. Lanier is someone they’ve talked to. I’ve mentioned a couple of the longshots they’re trying to get to visit. I do not know if they let Gillespie go, but he was definitely theirs to lose last week. As I said, I’m happily in the dark as long as we keep winning. I’ll share anything I hear.@Stoerner Fumbles
I know it's Basilio, so take it with all the salt, but he reported today that the kids Tennessee has been in contact with have been told to keep that contact quiet while Tennessee is still alive in the NCAAT to avoid distractions. I'll assume there is some truth to that as it makes good business sense to keep your current team focused and engaged.
He also said there are three kids that Tennessee already feels like they have in the bag. Any truth there? My guesses were Jakobi Gillespie and Saint Thomas were two of them, and now with both officially in the portal, that seems to have some legs, perhaps. But now there is talk of Gillespie perhaps favoring Maryland.
