2024 Transfer Portal

This is my concern as well. We still have 6’5 Jill, but she doesn’t always play like she’s 6’5. Moreover, the fact she prefers to play the 4 has been discussed ad nauseum. Would love a tall (6’5-6’7) young post tho I know they are rare.
If we get Spearman we be good there I think

McQueen is a 31% 3 pt shooter with a so so a/t.o. ratio. She's also a multi-transfer. Doesn't seem that much of an upgrade over Wells to me. Also just one year of elig left. However, she may be a pkg deal to get Nye. In that case, she's worth it.
With that 31 three point shooting she had a 1.30 scoring efficiency which is by far her best year ever in college. The main reason was 103 made free throws to go with 45 percent over all shooting. We need another point guard and she seems to understand her role. Not the best point guard out there, but probably the one that we will get because of our new Assistant. A wait and see on her she has not made even one post about basketball since she got in the portal.

Whoa! So if Bama had Nye and McQueen why did they not do any better than they did?

Timmons was a big part of what they did, especially defensively. Alabama actually had a better season than UT overall and we ended up tied with them but they won the tie breaker for the 4th double bye in the SEC tourney.

If Timmons doesn’t go down who knows what happens. This was the best team they have had for a long time though.

One of their other Achilles heels this season was not having a great backup for Carson. She was prone to some foul trouble. Their other posts were pretty good defensively but did not bring the same level of offense as Carson.

Good point. She dominates the paint and is a swatter. But still might be nice to maybe grab a young freshman true big and take time and develop her. Like Leti Vasconcelos of Baylor, who entered the portal.

Vasconcelos, a 6-foot-7 center originally from Brazil, she was the No. 6 player in her position and No. 36 overall prospect in the country, according to ESPN’s HoopGurlz.

But a big like that may not jive in a Coach Kim system.

She is a project for sure but could be worth it in the long run. She moved well for her size. If we take 6 portal players I could see taking a player like that

Agree. A good tool to have in the arsenal. I want us to be versatile and flexible.

Not a lot of difference between the two players so each poster can decide who they want more. Wilson shot the three a little better. McQueen got to the line a lot more and had the higher free throw percentage. Overall shooting fairly close.

I agree, would be third school for each. Would really come down to their visit and how they vibe with the rest of the team imo.

36.8 on 3s sticks out to me compared to 31. Also Wilson has a bit better a/t.o. I'd actually rather have a younger pg w even better stats over either of them.

I’m thinking we try to recruit that in the 2025 class. Likely what Lazo is working on. Some experienced guards are never a bad thing.

Having a veteran perimeter would make this a super dangerous team. That’s one of the things that made Bama good last season.

Mixing those olders transfers with Cooper and Boyd gives us some young and some mature.

If your just looking at the three it does. If your looking at the entire last season then you will also see 103 free throws made to 62 and you will see that McQueens scoring efficiency was 1.30 even though she shot a lot less than Wilson. Everybody has a way they look at anything. Personally when it comes to basketball players I am always looking at the most efficient player over any one particular stat.

In this case I’d take the player with proven SEC experience, and a coach she’s already familiar with in Coach Tubner.

Can’t go wrong with either though.

Fairly similar player yet for the overall last season McQueen scored more efficiently on shots take than Wilson. Still either or both would be great to have here.

Agreed. I would just prefer a player that’s used to playing SC, LSU, Ole Miss, etc.

Bama also faced Texas in the 2nd rd of the tourney, so McQueen has seen them too.
