Can you imagine moving from San Francisco to Columbia, SC? The culture shock alone will set KiKi back for months.
Well people on here said she wouldn’t leave the west coast, she should just go to USC to play with Juju, but I can’t imagine one of my favorite players going to Sc, I guess that’s like Candace going to the Aces.

Looks like KiKi is looking for a chance at a natty or a deep run. Kids will endure alot, like living in Columbia for a year to get that opportunity.

She can go to USC or UCLA and win the championship, and they will be my favorite going into the season. I just can’t fathom one of my favorites playing for Sc.

We’re seeing some super teams built. Have to hope they all don’t gel together or at some point want more minutes. The way some of these teams are stacking talent will produce great games at the top, but I worry that we’ll lose some of the parity that has been building in WBB.
I wonder if the visit will be before or after May 1. I know @Rooster1 has said this year will be the year of Sania Feagin but have to think she'd seriously think about transferring if they bring Kiki in...right?!

Right, you’d think with Kiki and Edward’s added in that Feagin or even Kitts might starting wondering about where they might fit.

Muhammed would be great. Not sure Tennessee was on her radar. I thought her HS teammate Smayah Smith was the one who was interested, but signed with LSU instead. IIRC, Amina committed to Texas pretty early. I wonder if TAMU is an option, especially with Barker leaving.
Gabe started following her on Twitter, so I’m sure there’s interest, at least on our part

Amazing to think last season Kiki Iriafen played 35 games while averaging 6.7 pts and 3.8 rebs in 12mins as a sophomore prior to her junior season where she averaged 19.4 pts and 11.0 rebs in 27.7mins.

Iriafen was the 2021 #19 prospect in HS.

Letting players develop and putting them in the right system can change their career in a season.

I remember a great and true story movie. "The Mighty Macs." It detailed the 3 time back to back to back national champion Immaculata College in Pennsylvania back in the 70s, during AIAW. The coach Cathy Rush got a group of young ladies, laid the format and they respected her, played hard for her and reaped the rewards. From them came former coach Teresa Grentz (Illinois), Rene Portland (Penn State) and Marianne Stanley, (Old Dominion). This was back when, and I thank Pat Head for most of this, the game went from "Church League" 6 on 6 to full court. The coach at Immaculata was Cathy Rush. She sought out players that would give it all they had, except excuses. I think that maybe there is a little bit of her in Coach Caldwell. She seems to want players that are going to play like that and to me, that spells success!

Tara could do that for a player. She will regress at USC if she goes there, promise. Gottlieb is not much of a coach. She’s a recruiter, rubs elbows with the right people and says the right things.

I’ve never been impressed with her actual coaching ability though.

At USC Kiki will be reduced to an offensive rebounder. Watkins will control the ball 95% of the time, take 75% of the shots and the rest will have to get left overs off rebounds and broken plays.

Kiki Visiting South Carolina next week. That would be a better fit and probably another natty for them. Would prefer to see her at SC over USC because I want the best for a really great player like that.

But dang, if she comes to the SEC it just gets tougher. This league is gonna be crazy tough next season.

Going to USC is what’s best for her and not Sc.

Someone already moved from Oregon to Columbia, SC and loves it there, while thriving in the new environment so much she's decided to play another year there instead of going pro.......

Velez was a 4 star with an excellent handle and a vg 3 pt shot while playing AAU with "Rose"
she never got a chance to show what she could do with LSU
Her longest stint for a game was 10 minutes and her average was 5....Anybody with that kind of limited time on the floor can NOT show their regular game bc they go in either trying too hard to create a spark or trying to hard not to make a mistake...playing minutes like that kills a player's game bc they never get into a mental mindset of just playing the game,,,their only mindset is to be too careful or be too wild

I am 100% behind Velez and hope that Lazo goes after this future sensation
I AGREE!

Actually the Walton family is apparently funding the men's team now, which could possibly open up money for the women.
Between Walmart, Tyson and Jerry Jones, Arkansas is set for funding. Those three can put FedEx to shame and I've been told that they are all on board. It'll all come out in the wash. UT is gonna have to get a major corporation on board and not have to rely on their fan base to support NIL funding.

Yeah, not the same lol. People trying to act like we’re going to look like Arkansas are just trying to find ways to drum up negativity and imagined “concern.”
Not true at all. It's tbe closest comparison in the sec to the type of offense played. Arkansas is a 3 point shooting team and we will be too. How is that a negative or drumming up negativity. I was taking the most similar offense and defense in the sec for a comparison, not as a dig. How was it even taken that way? Of arkansas ever played defense, they would have won games.

I’ll be disappointed but most others on here will be excited for any player we get, and they will over hype them. The 1st class will tell me what I need to know, and yes some people on here will be happy as long as it’s any high school commit.
I get the cynicism, I really do, but I'm thinking this is a marathon and not a sprint...this staff will have to earn some credibility with recruits before the big big names start rolling in. And I'm not saying they won't earn this credibility by way of some big power 5 wins this year (before all of the super enthusiastic crowd jumps all over this), it's just not an immediate flip of a switch to get back to the top.

FedEx is actually backing Memphis, not us. They pledge $25M over 5 years to UM just a week or so ago.

I agree with you but that is not what DW promised. He said championships year 1.

You just need that one recruit to choose us, you don’t need to prove anything that we haven’t don’t already. Juju went to USC and they didn’t do anything, so we can do the same. Let’s get Nyla Brooks and Aaliyah Chavez and we’re in business. But it looks like Chavez might be going to LSU so we’ll need to get the next best.
