Can't see us going that way if we get these two. I would think more of a fifth player would be a true post player.

Either of the Texas posts in the portal would be good.

Same with Lety Vasconcelos, again, a project, but at 6’7” with 3 years of eligibility it might be a project worth taking on.

She’s not a point guard. She’s an off guard with some small forward abilities imo.
Interesting! That was my understanding, too, from what little I saw of Penn State last season, but I also see she was listed a point guard out of high school (at least by HoopGurlz, as the #32 overall recruit).

Here's a quote from her earlier this year: "I would say my favorite position to guard would be probably a 2-3 guard, wing player. I can get out in passing lanes and shoot the gap for steals. I can help off on point guards, dig in, roam more when I’m off the ball. I’d say the hardest position to guard would be a very big, tall post player. I guess just because of their size. I’m only 5-10, so if I get stuck on someone that’s 6-4, 6-5, I rely more on how high I can jump."

They don’t need King with just one year of eligibility with Alyssa Latham in that spot find another young post/forward to play alongside her.

Also, one thing that is being missed all these signings seem to help Sara Puckett. She can play off the other forward or wing as she did with Rickea.

Hollingshead and Spearman will anchor the 5 spot but can also play the 4.

If they sign Kapinus who plays PG on offense and guards the 1-4 positions on defense along with Whitehorn who plays SG,W, and also the F position the 5th and possibly 6th portal signee(s) should be a true post player in the 6’4 to 6’5+ range.

King can score with the best of them, but I’d also think of someone like Muhammad out of Texas. Younger post with some height and potential. Also means you could possibly have three posts coming back in year two.

Look totally like were going for players with two years eligibility left. So that would leave out all the one year players as I haven't seen us make a move on any of them.

Kapinus is the only one year so far. I hate to say this but I could see some of our older players getting a little bit less time next year. They’ll still have a role but I think for continuity purposes there will be more investment in players with more than one year.

Leilani Kapinus is a point guard on offense. She guards multiple positions.

Players do not shoot the same percentages every year. I’m not seeing the point in nitpicking every statistic.

She is an elite athlete. I do not think she has ever played on a team that will have the amount of talent this Tennessee team is building on the roster.

Nothing is done yet but I can see how this would be an appealing destination right now for both Kapinus and Whitehorn.

She is not a one year player. She redshirted. It’s stated in her transfer announcement on social media as well she has two years of eligibility.

You play the best players that give you the best chance to win.

Correct. I’m not going to call anyone out bc they are all Lady Vols and they’ll all have roles, but if your system runs on athletes causing havoc, some of our older players who were recruited to a different system might not fit that style.

This coach is going to play who she thinks she can win with and there won't be minutes for everyone. Maybe some of the current players will work hard enough to get better to the point they can make the 10 to 11 player rotation. Someone is not going to make it and I don't see any of the players were getting out of the portal thus far as the ones that will sit. Of course we only have two the others are just prospects.

Agree. Last year she often had at least three on the court that lacked sufficient quickness for the their position. Two of those are returning starters and you add in Spear, a needed scorer, who struggled with superior athletes of the better teams and I don’t see this coach going that route. All that to say, the incoming athleticism is likely to reduce the role of some returners which is a good thing.

yes, she looks like she definitely is a natural 3 with her ability to use her speed to post up, rebound, and shoot from close and far. I really think if we get her, she and cooper can easily play multiple positions depending on the group of players they are on the floor with.

I'm way behind, is Kapinus on campus with Whitehorn?

Looks like 2-3 for her more than likely the three.
People act like the kids we have on the roster now are better than the kids we have coming in. This girl played on the USA 3*3 team, she will be a starter. We need athletes and quickness something the team didn’t have last year. Tell me who on the roster right now at the guard spot can defend and shoot like her? Spear can shoot but she isn’t the defender or rebounder kapunis is. This would be a perfect match to put her alongside Jewel.
