She had to impress somebody in the interview from a very dis advantage position...Having had no D-one experience .... She was coming something happened that changed her mind. Maybe a big Alabama booster got in the transaction or she just thought Bama was her best option as she was a starter there with huge minutes. I thought the only reason she got in the portal was for NIL money. Evidently Bama came through.

I don't think that's fair at all. Getting back in the portal was a really abrupt decision for Nye coming only a week or so after she re-committed to Bama. Must have been happy w her Bama bag at that point. Getting back in so quickly seemed more an emotional reflex to Tubner leaving. Maybe that resulted in getting her even more NIL $, but the timing, and the fact she changed her mind again, seem to indicate more a hasty decision. Which cooler heads probably had her reconsider.

Hate like hell we didn't get Nye, IMO having a proven SEC scorer like that is the difference in the LVs being actual contenders or not. But I think where she ended up was probably the best decision for her and not the "fault" of any of the coaches involved nor greed for $.

It absolutely is the difference and was for several. Depending on a kid's situation, the money can be a major factor and let's not act like it didn't impact the previous staff.

Coach Jumper seems to have a personal vendetta against the previous staff now. He can't talk about Coach Kim without insulting the previous staff.

There is No vendetta ... I supported her for the first couple of years. I questioned her the second couple of years. I agreed she needed to be gone the last year. That doesn't sound like a Vendetta. It sounds like the same opinion that 95% of the people on this site

Whitehorn brings 52 percent from the two only 28 from the three.. Kapinus 58 percent overall and 41 from the three although I would call it legitimate as she only took 65 threes last season. Her 72 steals really look good in this system.

We were told last year (and who knows what to believe) that although our "stars" got more $, even for RIckea it wasn't near what she could have gotten elsewhere. Also that the LVs got both Jewel and Destinee out of the portal for less combined than LSU paid Del Rosario for her last minute decision to go there.

Yeah if we’re comparing the 3 Nye brings less than either Whitehorn or Kapinus in terms of other skills. Kapinus and Whitehorn are both better defenders, better rebounders, better passers and quicker players than Nye.

The only leg up on them Nye has is her set shooting ability. If you get her a look from 3 with her feet set it’s cash money almost every time.

We have a couple players who can be that kind of shooter with some work though. Puckett has a beautiful shot and Darby is as good a set shooter as anyone in the SEC if you get her the looks.

Kapinus hit 41 percent last season I would settle if she could hit 35 percent. First time in her career she had gotten anywhere near that kind of three point shooting. She would have to prove it another season and would be glad to see if she could do it here at Tennessee.

Our team does not have a base NIL salary. Last year many had what was called an event series deal where you were paid based on the event. Some had larger deals where they had monthly payments (ie salary). I imagine the model will be similar this year and we know have a couple with Vol Club too.

I am a coach and my entire adult life has been in management...and quite simply ... "If I hired my best friend or one of my own family, and they couldn't do the job,,I would have to fire them just like anybody else.

Look back at my posts and you see the pattern was as I stated
first two years I backed and fully supported hiring Kellie,,,second two year I began to become critical of her decisions and lack of progress, poor closing of the recruits Sam brought in for her and lack of betterment of skills of her players and in year five I was fully behind the decision to let her go

That is not a vendetta and it has never reached "personal" in my posts or opinions.

Kellie was in over her head,,her decisions were led by emotion and it was obvious that it was more important for her to be liked than respected by her players....None of which is an attack.

Agree with you Coach. Coaching is a business and must be handled that way. Hard decisions have to be made no matter who gets mad. Kellie made a decision to not keep Holly's recruiter and replacing her with an unknown was the first red light for me. High school recruiting suffered which was another red light and directly led to her being replaced. I love Kellie but just not as coach of the Lady Vols.

Hmmmm…She did make some progress in her game, but coaches aren’t responsible for her physical health beyond certain kinds of injuries. Also, there are players who refuse to be coached, and some coaches who put up with it and others who don’t.
