LSU athletic program is losing money. They are in a revenue deficit. Once a few more of those players with major NIL deals graduate, you will not hear much else about LSU NIL.

Tennessee right now is the next big NIL school in WBB.
Revenue and NIL money aren't the same.

NiL comes from donors and collectives. If we go to a revenue sharing model, it will be from a collective pool of athletic dept revenue, most likely not individual sports because no one outside football or bball would receive NIL.

I'm not saying if there should have been a change or not but attendance actually increased every year over the past five years and we likely ended up top 5 in attendance this past year. The stats came from the Lady Vols Twitter account.
And I was in attendance for a number. Something happened to make a change. We are never going to know the full answer. History repeats itself. If NIL was not there, then donors were not supporting program.
I am not happy that Kelly did not make it. As a VOL for life, Kelly was the fairy tale dream. Point guard on one of Pat's national champion team. Point guard that torn her ligament and fought to come back against all odds to play in the same year. I really wanted her to win one at UT as the coach. I really hope the Kelly is successful in whatever she does. I cant change anything. I can choose to be happy and support all UT programs.

Okay.

Same, but I do find it a little sad to see these girls buying $170,000 depreciating assets. I hope from the core of my being they are getting some good financial advisement and investing some of that.
Yes!! I think for those athletes like Flajuae, Rickea, or Caitlin you should offer some sort of financial management/investment/literacy course as a degree program. Armando Bacot from UNC got his masters in finance and was quoted as saying he made and invested enough from NIL that he doesn’t really have to worry about his salary as a pro. If we’re going to pay college kids obscene amounts, I hope we can at least ensure they are set financially for a bit just in case something tragic like injury happens.

Ballout and 247
Not sure how reliable any of these twitter sources are right now. All seem more interested in being first than being right. They repeat each other's rumors. Not saying the 2.3 mil isn't true, just that we don't really know. And as you said, probably won't.
I also wonder if we will ever get any clarity around NIL offerings from any school other than kind of gossip. I view it a lot like salaries. Little incentive to publish and promote unless you’re confident you’re out paying everyone. I’ve seen rumors around South Carolina, SoCal, and Iowa, but no one is definitively saying (to my limited knowledge at least) what their budget is.
Actually, So Car has been pretty open about theirs. Can't pull up exact sources, Rooster probably can, but they've been open that their collective gives 25K to ea member of the squad in exchange for vague NIL committments. Also open that this money comes from a local law firm. Right now they are advertising on twitter that they have an offer for 250K if someone will match. IMO theirs is the logical approach; be open and everyone on the team gets the same base, then are free to pursue their own promotional deals.

I believe financial guiance is one of the jobs of the NIL coordinator that most schools have hired. The first year, many NIL recipients were shocked they had to pay taxes.

Iowa and So Cal offer a base “salary” as well, I believe. I think the rumors are 30K and 50K respectively. It does potentially create a weird dynamic when Jewel and Talaysia (hypothetical example) get $75K and Tess gets $15K. I can imagine locker room issues easily.

Kellie struggled recruiting at NC State before NIL…. Maybe the issue was her ability to recruit players and not NIL.
SMH.. Some of you people can't let go. The dragging Kellie in for no reason other than to pile on her continues. We will never know what she may have done if given another year but that makes no difference.

Move on--CKC is our coach so let's get behind her.

I believe all major teams, including the LVs, have a base NIL salary. Agree, one of the great things about the So Car plan is everyone gets the same base.

We were told last year (and who knows what to believe) that although our "stars" got more $, even for RIckea it wasn't near what she could have gotten elsewhere. Also that the LVs got both Jewel and Destinee out of the portal for less combined than LSU paid Del Rosario for her last minute decision to go there.

Ballout and 247. To be fair, lots of credible sources have been wrong and i consider Maria to he a credible source. Many credible sources also said Nye was coming here.

I would love to know that story too and I doubt we will never get the truth.
She was coming something happened that changed her mind. Maybe a big Alabama booster got in the transaction or she just thought Bama was her best option as she was a starter there with huge minutes. I thought the only reason she got in the portal was for NIL money. Evidently Bama came through.

The AD would get credit for that. What has Kellie done that has shocked you ?
Not followed Pat Summitt's advice..." Pat said,,, You win with people you put good people around you",,, Pat put people around that had the qualities and Unique abilities She didn't possess and empowered them... Kelly as well as Holly, put people around them who.
We're seemingly not allowed to disagree with them....imo..of course

My error. I meant, what has Kim done that has shocked you. The credit for hiring her goes to the AD.

Are they buying it or are they given the car for a certain amount of time, like Rickea with the Mercedes? Why post the dealership if they aren’t getting any benefit from it.

According to Flaujae she paid for hers

That’s what she says in her insta comments.

I know some schools have deals with dealerships that loan/lease athletes cars. Some of these kids with brand deals have the money to buy their own though. That’s part of why they tag the dealership. Can’t have anyone thinking they went cheap and bought one certified pre-owned 🤭

G- Wagons do not hold their value well. They depreciate well over $100,000 within just a couple years. New they are ~$170k preowned with low miles they are often around $80k. Just a terrible investment. Merceds knows they are a “clout” car which is why they have that big price tag stuck on them but don’t hold their value.

She linked the dealership, which tells me she got some kind of deal for the car for the promo, I don’t believe she paid full price for that car.
