Problem with portal girls is who is willing to come to knowingly be a young backup

Especially if they are good

If you could clear out the three position two players playing about 20 minutes each and hopefully giving us 20 points and 10 rebounds a game should keep both happy. There is certainly huge minutes at the five even if Tamari comes back. She looks to always be foul prone and will be unlimited minutes for a player and two if she doesn't come back.

Pissott would've started if she had been capable of starting. She was not even capable of coming off the bench. She couldn't defend anybody and wouldn't rebound. She came in with a high Hoopgurlz rating which turns out was a huge miss. She got her shot at Vandy averages 2 rebounds a game in about 20 minutes and 35 percent from the field. I don't know where she goes from here, but she has to do a lot more JMO to keep getting playing time even at Vandy.

Evidently Vandy agreed to start her cause what she was doing on the court was hurting Vandy a lot more than it was helping. I think whomever we take from the portal will know where they stand before they accept. Kellie never guarantees playing time even if sometimes she gives players time on the court they should not be getting.

She was a #11 overall ranked player! I believe this is the highest ranked player by hoopgurlz , that was really a bust ? Just saying…,,, You would expect a top 10—20… player to be a lock to not only start but also to contribute mightily to any team ! This player was way over ranked for their skills ! JMO

People may not like to hear this but maybe we need to stay out of the transfer portal…

NC State beat writers made a great point that Wes Moore decided to turn his back on the portal and buy into the players he had plus give role to his incoming freshmen. That mentality led to a strong core of seasoned players who were underachieving all their careers to a top 10 team.

I think u always HAVE to have certain pieces but be honest about turnover and chemistry. It clearly takes transfer forever to adjust to their new homes.

Speaking of interesting takes If Wynn hasn’t learned to shoot in all this time she won’t, if Jillian hands haven’t gotten better they probably won’t, & if what we have now is slow then that’s probably what we’re going to have again with no additions. So where exactly do you think this team could be developed so they’ll finally be a title contender? It’s probably just a few players on this roster that could be better than where they currently stand and that’s not enough. There’s absolutely no way we have the luxury of not getting into the portal.

Kaiya’s shot was actually much much better at the beginning of the season but regressed again later. Her FT shooting was significantly improved. Idk who she worked with in the offseason but her form was a ton better.

Not sure there's exactly NIL money freed up from RJ's departure. That was a one year deal fm Mercedes of Knox exclusively to keep her. Maybe the Furrows would do it again but maybe not. It's not like there's one big pot of money to pull from.

Well they just gave a car to Cooper, so they better have more of that for an elite player.

Totally agree and perish the thought we wouldn't go portal. We have 20 pts and 9 rebounds a game to make up with RJ gone plus all the defensive attention she gets. Not happening with the current roster.

They've had a few busts but she may like you said be their worse one yet. I am not counting her totally out as she can shoot the three. She needs a mindset to go get rebounds and needs to develop the ability to score inside and around the basket. She is 6'5" sadly plays like she is a foot shorter.

They'd better, and they might. But the point was these are individual deals they're able to eke out. Could be wrong, but I don't think there's one large pot of salary money that will be better off now that Rickea's gone.

I do not think we need a PG. I think we need one more really quality wing and a true center.

I would be fine with us only taking two portal players even though we have room for more. I think you run too much risk of chemistry problems adding more than 2.

If we only take 2 players it need to be a starting Pg and starting Center. The same as I said last year, and didn’t get.

Wynn won’t be good, she’s good at the end of the bench and in spots to give a quick breather to someone, she doesn’t need to play any meaningful mins.

We have several players that are just not doing enough to qualify for the minutes they got to play. I know a lot of them had to play as they were all we had. If you can recruit over them you have to do it. If you don't definitely won't be here after next season.

Her FT % improved from 48% to 69% which is a marked improvement and very important for a player like her with the ability to get to the rim and draw fouls. You can’t deny 20% is a large improvement on shooting.

If Key does come back she will be a decent backup and I would play her 10-15 mins at best.

I think she has plenty of confidence, she just needs to work on her game.

No but Talaysia and Jewell and if Tamari comes back should give us three. Then you have Puckett, Hollingshead, Darby, Striplin, and Wynn who we really need to use as backups if we can get anybody better that can start.
